Does anyone else's LO not really laugh?
I have to lay her on the ground and blow raspberries on her cheeks, and then she might laugh. Otherwise she just smiles huge but doesn't laugh.
Is this normal?
She is 7 months.

A has only laughed a handful of times, when we're doing something crazy silly (making faces and weird sounds at the same time), but it's definitely not a 'regular' thing. I think we've gotten a few giggles in a row maybe twice ever?

M's not a big laugher unless you really work for it! I think some babies are just more serious than others. As long as she's responding to you in some way (ie the smiling) I wouldn't worry a bit.

I would say normal. My LO doesn't really laugh. She only started around maybe 8 months and even then the only thing that makes her giggle a little is kisses from the dog. We cant get her to laugh at all she smiles big and does a big inhale and holds it in.

My LO only laughed when you really worked for it at that age. He laughs a lot more at 10 months now.

My daughter never really laughed until about 12 months. She would giggle a little bit, but we had to really work it out of her. Now, at 3, she laughs and shrieks really loudly all the time, so she definitely grew into it.

My DD barely laughed. She'd have big smiles and do this kind of coughing thing when we really got her going, but we had to work pretty hard for it. Now she's almost a year and laughing all the time...and sometimes I have no idea why!

For the longest time, DD's laugh sounded like she choking. When she was younger, she would just smile but never laugh and it took sometime before she even get that. Now at 15.5 months, her laugh sounds perfectly normal (and pretty cute too).
I guess it just took her awhile to perfect it

Normal. I have to go out of my way to make O laugh. Crazy dancing/singing, tickling and he laughs when we practice walking. He definitely doesn't just laugh at his toys or on his own, he makes us work for it!!

We have to work reeeeaaally hard to get the boys to laugh sometimes. It seems like they take turns with one being a little more giggly for a little while and the other one being impossible to get more than a big grin out of.

My LO is almost 1 and he's still not a super laugh-y baby. He is VERY smiley and will do a little chuckle/wheezy laugh often, but full out giggles/laughing is hard to come by!

Oh good! Y'all just made me feel so much better. I thought that maybe she was behind with this.
I just love her little laugh I want to hear it more!

@Smurfette: Yes! Baby giggles are the best sound in the world...why do they play hard to get?!

My DD is 14 months and I have to work for a good belly laugh. Like full on dance, sing and make funny noises. It's worth it though!

Yeah, at 9 months L doesn't laugh very much. We have to go ALL out, and then we only get a little giggle. I want a full-on belly laugh soooo badly!

We have to tickle or blow raspberries to get her to giggle. The only time she's really laughed is when our friend's 4 year old boy was tossing around a balloon and she couldn't stop laughing - it was the oddest and cutest thing. Babies are definitely weird!

@petunia354: and I swear DH gets them more then I do. Which ticks me off since I am solo parenting during the week. And she says Dada.

My daughter started laughing earlier and more than my son. But after a year when they got much more interactive, the laughs are easier to come by with little tickles and in normal play with each other and with us.
