... you seem to make them feel worse?

DS slept in today - which is uber rare - and when he woke up he looked much like he did yesterday: pale, redened nose, snot dripping down, slightly shadowed around the eyes. Very poorly looking. But then he started to point to his nose and say ouch and cry. So in my infinite wisdom I decided to give him some allergy medicine that we had on hand for infants (bought last fall for his allergies at the suggestion of my pharmacist). Of course being nearly two he wanted to drink the medicine himself without any help.

So he took a sip. Then proceeded to nearly tip it all out. So I took it away and tried to explain that I would hold it for him. Cue snot and tears and making him look even more pitiful. This fight went on for 10 minutes - him getting the medicine, sipping a tiny amount, nearly tipping it, me taking it back, cue tears and snot. Finally I tried to calm the hysterics down enough so that I could tip the medicine for him into his mouth. Four times of this, it was finally all down but I almost feel like I made him worse just by trying to help him feel better!

So now we're curled up on the couch watching Blues Clues while eating cereal. Ugh. :'(
