I'll probably pick up a kit from Target. But looking for some mess free ideas for the 19m old! Does anyone know if washable markers will stay on the eggs???
Will you be decorating eggs this week/end?

We are doing your typical dye kit. Last year we tried egg painting (DD was around 19 months then) and it was a mess. So don't do that lol

I think I'll wait until my kids are a little older. Honestly, Easter is probably my least favorite holiday and I was never into egg decorating myself. I think going to hunt for Easter eggs might be the extent of what I'll do for my kids this year.

@Mrs. Sunshine: lol I thought about it for .2 seconds after reading about it on the blog!

No, because I don't feel like eating hardboiled eggs!
We made egg garlands using plastic eggs and fishing wire and that seemed to be enough for my son.

@regberadaisy: most kits WILL be messy - how about just giving her stickers to put on them?

@Mamaof2: the kit I got last year had dye tablets and stickers. DD2 won't get to use the dye part. But yeah, maybe some spring stickers from the dollar spot.

We did them last night and it went surprisingly well. My LO is 2 1/2 we set up the table and she put all the tabs in the cup while i mixed the vinegar and water solution. She plopped each egg in the cup and we played with the stickers while they took the dye. We checked them a couple times and "showed" daddy the colors after about 10 minutes we took them out to dry and dumped the cups. We made 9 eggs and she has two that she will bring to school they do them there too. We wore an old t shirt and put paper down on the table and we had no issue with stains.

@regberadaisy: washable markers will wipe right off. Crayons (esp. the waxy cheaper kind - RoseArt - will work better.)

Not really into this and also don't want to make a mess since DD is 15 mo... So probably not!

We did it last year when C was a year and a half old and t went surprisingly well! I had her in her high chair in just a diaper, used a kit with the dye tabs and stickers. I just let her put the eggs in the bowls with her hands, so her hands did get messy but they only took a day or so to get clean. And she had a really fun time. We will do the same thing this year.

Of course This will be our third year doing it together. The first time I dyed them and let her use crayons and stickers. That will be what DD2 does this year. DD1 will help dye this year. She's excited, and it's not dramatically messier than other arts and crafts.

I think we'll wait until next year. He's 2.5 right now and I think it'll just be asking for dye to get all over. We're pretty low key about Easter.

Nope. LO is 3 and would probably enjoy it, but I am not inclined to spend the energy and since she did an egg hunt last weekend at a public park, and is doing one of Sunday at church, we're going to skip it at home this year. She and I did stuff eggs last night for our church though, and she did a great job putting in a piece of candy and closing up the plastic eggs.

DS1 is 3 so we'll try it this year. I envision a big mess but he'll have fun. Plus, he loves eating hardboiled eggs lately. Or at least just the egg whites, or egg wipes as he calls them.

Ds is 25m and we colored eggs last year and we'll do it again this year. We're going to color with cool whip so hopefully it's less messy.

Yes, we'll be coloring them, Saturday. We're enjoying some warmer weather, so we'll do it on the deck.
