What is everyone putting in their easter eggs and baskets?
DD is 2yrs old, so I'm not doing any candy. I also hate junky plastic toys, and we are have enough stuffed animals, so i'm just really at a loss to get meaningful stuff!
Help a mama out with some ideas

For baskets we do things like new Pajamas, books, new swimsuit, art supplies, etc.
For the eggs; we did cheddar bunnies, coins, and stickers when the kids were younger.

I always do a book or two, summer pjs, summer shoes (sandals or water shoes), sometimes a dvd. And then maybe a small toy. Basically stuff I would have bought anyway! Also a 2 yo would probably love to “hunt” eggs in your house - you could put whatever small food you are comfortable with (goldfish, cereal, one fruit snack, etc).

My 7mo is getting: a teething egg, unbreakable sunglasses, a white 50SPF sunhat, and an indestructible book. I will probably throw in a pack of yogurt melts, too.
My 4yo is getting: 2 pairs of dollar spot sunglasses, a book on how engines work, bathtub paint soap (also dollar spot!), PJ masks bandaids, and a bubble machine.
We will also do a very small egg hunt in our home for him. We will probably do 10 eggs total with a small treat in each (a few M&Ms or Reeces Pieces in each).

I like filling the baskets with summer/outdoor stuff. DS is almost four and I did a new swimsuit and sandals, magnifying glass, butterfly net, light up ball, squeeze rockets and a kinder egg. For his egg hunt at home I'll probably do quarters and maybe a dollar or two, hershey kisses, a couple plastic junky toys I got at party city, and a couple of "tickets" that he can redeem for presents (a small lego set and a dinosaur stamp set).
At 2, you could fill the eggs with hair bows or socks, stickers (I usually just use stickers I have lying around), small stamps or tattoos, or one of those washcloths that grows in water.

Cereal is a great egg filler. And if you want it to be more of a treat get a sweeter cereal or a fun shape. Also those little bites that are just fruit leather cut up small. Or freeze dried fruit. We like bubbles, chalk, hair things, socks, t shirts, books, sunglasses, and sandals as basket fillers.

I’m filling eggs with blueberries, Annie’s cheddar bunnies and maybe some fruit snacks and maybe a matchbox car in the “golden egg”. His Easter basket will have a book, crocodile creek floor puzzle, sidewalk chalk, swimsuit and water shoes and whatever else I impulse buy between now and then. DS is 3

Eggs will be filled with coins. They get enough candy from their easter basket (and we don't give a lot) and from their other relatives. We usually do a small gift with their basket. DS1 will get some Beyblades b/c he's obsessed. DS2 is getting the M&D reusable sticker books and some trucks to go into the sand box at the park.

Another vote for coins, or slightly more fun versions of snacks you'd allow anyway!
We do a jellybean "trail", but otherwise try to keep the candy to a minimum. We're pretty strict about the girls eating it, so it ends up getting wasted if I don't like it, or eaten by me if I do, neither of which is an ideal situation!

DD is 4. For her basket:

-No show socks for summer. I found Pumas that match mine, she's going to go nuts

-chapter book about bunnies

DD also loves the little wash cloths you get compressed into a disc at the dollar store, I'll probably try to grab one. I'll probably also grab some cheap bath toy contenders like spray bottles, ketchup squirt bottle, etc.

DS is 6 this year so he is getting a bit more candy. Usually I like to get outdoor stuff. This year he’s getting a soccer ball, bubbles, skipping rope, a couple books and three hatchimals.
DS2 is 7 months and so far I’ve gotten him a sun hat and bath toy. I’ll orobably get him some puffs and a couple outfits in the next size as well.

Annie’s has some bunny cookies - snickerdoodle or chocolate and vanilla flavour - that we’ve used to put in eggs in previous years.

DD is 2 and needs a few summer clothing items so she's getting a couple t-shirts, a pair of shorts and some socks. Rolled up, a pair of socks fits perfectly inside a plastic egg. I got a box of cute dinosaur bandaids from the Target dollar spot that I'll split between a few eggs. I also picked up 2 bottles of Piggy Paint nail polish and each bottle is small enough to fit inside an egg. A few eggs will probably have coins and a couple more maybe some mini Reese's cups. She will get a chocolate bunny as well. I may throw a book into the basket, but we will see.
Last year she was 14 months and I did socks, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a book, and I think I put coins in some of the eggs as well.

Fully admit this is OTT but I also see no point in buying junk, so I just buy things I’d want him to have anyway. This year:
Owlette toy from PJ Masks, new chalk, bunny slippers, a puzzle, a M&D lace trace game, The Velveteen Rabbit, kinetic sand, play doh, small magnatiles add on set, scissors/cutting activity book.
No candy because my mom goes nuts. He’s 3.

Two Berenstein books- Soccer
Magnifying glass & tweezers (HB blog suggestion)
Three Crayola bath paints
Three inkpads for M&D stamps LO already owns
Three rabbit pouches, different flavors
One sponge animal that gets bigger in water that is packaged in an egg
LO’s school will have an egg hunt the Thursday before Easter. The kids are sent home with all the eggs in tact. I’ll go through the eggs pull out the candy and I have some all in one stamps leftover from my contribution to the egg hunt to swap the candy. I’m hoping another parent or two went the non-candy route though.

We went to Walmart and let DD pick out a few new things- bath loofah & headbands.
You can get nicer eggs and re use them yearly.

A lot of great ideas already but I figured I would chime in since I just ordered the fillers for our annual egg hunt that we host for our friends and their kids.
I try to stick to majority non-candy since there is a wide mix of ages, and while some of it is plastic nonsense I try to keep it from being total garbage haha
This year the list includes:
Animal figures
Squishy animals
A big roll of stickers - I'll tear off a few for each egg those go in
Slap bracelets
Zipper bracelets
Mini stamps
We do some eggs with candy since a lot of the kids are older now (5-8) but we always separate the candy-filled eggs to being only in the back yard and the front yard has all non-candy eggs so parents can direct their kids accordingly.

DS is one, so I don't feel like I need to give him candy yet. I got rain boots, a sun hat, a bubble gun in the shape of a dinosaur, and a book.

So I went to Target tonight at 8:30 🤦♀️ for Easter basket supplies.
For my newly 3 year old I got:
Bubbles
A new Mo Willems Piggie book
The Lorax movie (for in the car)
A grow your own Peep (sponge thing you soak in water)
And instead of yet another Easter basket to be destroyed, a pirate backpack for it to all go in

Because I’m a visual person...
LO’s school has a scholastic reading book sale and he picked out a Paw Patrol book & craft thing. Of course after he made a big fuss two days in a row and I let him have the director ring it up and told him we would pick it up. Wouldn’t you know he hasn’t asked for it since! Hope he’s happy to see it again.
The plastic eggs are all from school and filled with stickers, little balls, and all-in one Easter themed stamps.

Adding our baskets for the girls, 6.5 and 4 mo. for people who might search and find this for ideas next year. l admit that every year when I am packing the Easter basket (now baskets!) I think I’ve gone overboard... but then Easter morning comes and I’m happy I did haha

I like to save little things over time to add, and grab things we know we need for the upcoming spring/summer to beef it up and make it practical.
DD1: wooden 3D bug puzzles, a Wellie Wishers book, LOL pet, box of flower cookies, nail polish, magic grow egg, stacking crayon, swim goggles, bathing suit cover up, eggs with candy, jellybeans in the gold egg, a chocolate bunny, hatchimals, and a butterfly/beetle canvas bag.
DD2: bathing suit and sunglasses, spring jumper, baby shoes, bibs/spoons/baby food ahead of starting solids, a munchie mit, board book, and water tummy time play mat.
