We have a 2 1/2 week 12 day hiatus due to the public school schedule. Not looking forward to the impact that has on work! We will probably visit Bee's parents, since we don't have childcare and it's a good time for them to see the kids.
Will you have a childcare hiatus over the holidays?

Our nursery closed for one week at the end of August and closed for about 10 days over the Christmas period. In addition, my inlaws (who provide childcare for us 3 days per week) went on holiday the week before the nursery closure so we have had a few days here and there to cover - but it wasn't too bad. I'm not sure how we will resolve Christmas though because we both need to work.

I'm Actually not sure what days daycare is closed- I think just the holidays. But DH will be between quarters, I'll be between semesters so I think we'll keep him home the week of Christmas.

I know for sure the school is closed between Christmas and NYE, not sure if it is closed before or after. I have to look.
I know my husband will take some time off as he still has vacation days to use by the end of the year.

Ours is just closed after noon Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the 26th and then Jan 1st. Depending on what we're doing, we'll probably still send Xander most of the time.

I think they just close early on the 24th and 31st. Then closed the 25th and 1st. But are off so we will have her home with us for that week. We will take her one day so we can have a day date.

Our nanny will takw the week of Christmas off, but we usually take some time off then too, so it is not a big deal.

Our daycare is closed Dec 22-Jan 5, 10 business days but they include Christmas & new years . We just make do and take extra days off if required. My DH gets several days off got Christmas and New Years so it's normally not that big of a deal

Daycare is only closed Christmas Day and New Years Day, but we'll be keeping her home from 12/22-1/2.

Daycare closes from Christmas Eve - New Years Day. I will be taking some time off, otherwise my MIL has the same hiatus from work and enjoys spending those days with LO.

With our daycare we luckily all the days they're closed we have off from work. I looked at our public school calendar and they have 12/24-12/31 off. When we get to that stage we'll probably have to take a few extra days off and/or work from home.

Our nanny usually takes off depending on our schedule -- one week at least but last year went on a trip for three weeks so I'm sure she was delighted! This year probably just a week or maybe two. It's fun to play house when I'm off but I do miss the help, a lot! Especially when it comes to cleaning (she cleans). We will have lots of outings for sure!

@mrs. wagon: wow, that's awesome! Our daycare has christmas eve, christmas day, new years eve and new years day off. So it's not bad at all. But it's great that your school really accommodates to working parents!

Our daycare only closes for major holidays (just the day of the holiday). I can't believe how many places close for a week or more at a time! I can more understand an in-home closing for a few days, but if a center wanted to do that I would definitely be annoyed!
