I know the book was poorly written but I had fun reading it. The first official trailer for the too hot for the public movie is up...
Will you go see it?
What do you think?

Yup! I will see it! I read all 3 books! I will need to reread them soon.
Just watched the trailer and I can't wait.
Not sure about the actors for Christian and Anna, but I guess I'll see in Feb 2015 how they do.
ETA: Kinda wished you titled this thread '50 shades of grey fans? The trailer.' I know people will knock the book, the people who read it and will see the movie. Whatever! I get that some people didn't like the writing. Yeah, it was bad in parts but overall, I liked the series. This is someone who refuses to read the twilight books. We all have different tastes. I like what I like.
Though, maybe I should try to read twilight... Though, my DH might divorce me if I get them. Is there a kindle version?
pineapple / 12526 posts
No. Im about as interested in seeing it as I was in seeing Twilight. I never made it through the books... they were just too poorly written to handle.

Meh, probably not. Or maybe if it comes out on Prime I'll watch out of boredom. Not really my thing!

He just doesn't have that smouldering look and appeal that he did in the books, which makes me sad.
grapefruit / 4066 posts
yep!! a little bummed by who they chose as the actors, but will still watch anyways.
nectarine / 2932 posts
Yes. Hoping it's better than the books but I'm not holding my breath! I didn't love the actor choices either, but I think he looks pretty good in the preview

I read the trilogy. Is it just me or are the actors in the trailer not what you'd imagined Christian and Anna to be like from the books?
Its going to be a rental for me. I don't think my hubby would be thrilled to take me to the theater to watch this, and it would be too weird to go with my sister.
I wished Charlie Hunnam would have been Christian... yum.
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
This should've been Christian. Hand down, no questions asked. yummy.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I'll watch it when it comes on HBO. I'd be too embarrassed to see it in the theater but I'm interested, if only to see how they handle all those sex scenes, lol.

I haven't read the book(s) and have no intention on watching the movie (and inevitable sequels) either.
pomelo / 5469 posts
I don't know....probably not. I think I'd feel too embarrassed to go with someone to watch it, depending on how graphic it is!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I was all for it when it was Charlie Hunnam, because he's just incredibly delicious and hot and diry, but now that he pulled out...I don't really have a desire. I hated the books.

@Mrs. Rabbit: I haven't even read the books, but with Matt Bomer in the lead I would probably have seen that movie! haha
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: agreed!!
I'll probably rent it. Unless a gf wants to go see it!
pomegranate / 3105 posts
@mrsjyw: That's what I'm doing!! A few girls and I decided we are having a girls night out - dinner, wine and 50 shades!
pineapple / 12802 posts
I think I will eventually watch it? I have no rushing desire to go out and see it ASAP. I read the first book but could not make it through the second & third.
It's probably going to be one of those guilty pleasure things. I'm actually quite embarrassed to admit that I'm even interested in the movie, but I have a ... soft spot for kinky things.
I am actually THRILLED they didn't pick any of the popular names to play these rolls.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Honeydew: Oh, yeah. DH will definitely not be going with me to see this movie.
@illumina: I'm definitely going with my girlfriends. Or finding a meet-up group that's going.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
I haven't read the books so I won't go see it. It seems like it would be awkward to go see a movie about sex in a crowded theater.
clementine / 933 posts
My girlfriends and I have talked about going to see it. My Feb. due date might prevent me from seeing it in the theater, though! I plan on seeing it eventually, though. The books were a total guilty pleasure!

I tried to read the book and couldn't finish the first one. But still I have to say-- I'm sort of disappointed in Christian Grey. He isn't as hot as I'd anticipated.
@Mrs. Rabbit: totally agree.
pear / 1672 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: YES!! Matt Bomer is Christian Grey.
I think this movie will be reserved for a pay per view a night that DH goes out by himself. I don't think I'd see it in the theater.
coconut / 8861 posts
Nope, no desire to see the movie or read the books. I want to know if the movie will detail the infamous tampon scene. I only know about it from gossip sites quoting it.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Leialou: While there is a large portion of the first book about S&M, the book does end up being a love/relationship book with character development on why the man likes to treat women like that. (Spoiler- She does end up changing him.) The other two books are less S&M. So it's not really about just sex.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Ugh.. I haven't read the book and have no desire to.. however, Jamie Dornan is ridiculously hot. So, there's that.
honeydew / 7909 posts
I'm pretty sure it's a movie I'll actually want to see!
Eta: after watching the trailer, I like the people I pictured better than the actors that were chosen.
honeydew / 7586 posts
I'll probably watch it when it's on-demand. I don't think it will be good enough to drop $14 at the theatre.
nectarine / 2636 posts
@Mrs. Rabbit: yes!! Matt totally should've been cast as him. I don't care that he's gay, he is such a hottie. I was devastated when I found out he was gay. Haha. He's definitely the perfect Christian.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@Littlebit: agreed! I was surprised how good he looked in the preview.
nectarine / 2358 posts
I'd probably rent it but not a theater movie. I'm glad they didn't choose big names to play the roles but I did expect Christian to be a bit more smoldery. But eh, I guess it's slightly more realistic? And I hope the writing is better than the books!
ETA okay re watched the trailer (I'm waiting to finish my GTT so I have to have it on silent lol) and I take it back, he does look good and I think the best part of the character is his intensity. But the other suggestions are definitely attractive specimens *swoon*
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I'll probably watch it, but probably not until it's available on Netflix.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
When I can rent it. Books were AWFUL (I only read the first two because I couldn't handle the terrible writing), but I'm interested to see how they treat it in film.
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
I am still sad it isn't Charlie hunham (sp?). The guy who plays Christian doesn't look anything like what I imagined (and isn't even so good looking). Prob will watch at home on ppv
