    I'm disappointed the theaters won't show the movie. All the hype made me want to see it. Plus I don't like the idea of N. Korea getting their way.

    None of us will see it this year. The studio decided to cancel the release.

    Nooooo. That movie looks really bad. If I was going to see anything it would be The Theory of Everything.

    @lawbee11: Me too!!! We really wanted to see Gone Girl, but we are away from family and had no one to watch DD.

    I like Seth Rogen, but no. It's doesn't look good enough for me to spend the money on. I want to go see The Hobbit and Unbroken.

    @Ra: Totes Magotes.

    If he didn't want to see it he should have just banned it in NK like other countries do when they don't like a movie America makes.

    I voted o ther- we rarely see movies now, but I probably would have seen it pre-baby. Now, it's not high enough on the list to be one of the two movies we maybe see this year, haha.

    I also was like "this can't be real" when I first saw the trailer. I mean, I can see this being an interesting plot but they picked the WRONG person to piss off. They should have just done a caricature of him with a different name.

    I can't believe this movie ever actually made it to this point in the first place! Funny or not, is it worth people's lives? No. Absolutely not. And as far as the whole 'giving in to terrorists' thing goes...it's not like the terrorists are getting anything of value out of this - we're not talking about releasing criminals or letting Kim Jong-un off the hook for his crimes against humanity or giving them money or anything like that...Sony just isn't going to release a movie that is about assassinating him.

    I'm surprised that we're just now acting like this is a concern because of the hackers. It seems like the concern should have started back over the summer when Kim Jong Un said that North Korea would follow through with merciless retaliation against the US if this movie was released.

    @wonderstruck: to me, the whole "not giving into terrorists" thing isn't just about this one particular movie, it's about setting a precedent. Because this situation is basically saying, "hey, potential hackers, stealing information is a really effective way to get what you want!" This time it's just over something as unimportant as a movie, but what about next time?

    @MrsSCB: Did they get their way because they stole information, or because they were making threats of terrorism like blowing up movie theaters? The uproar seems to imply the first, but the second seems to make more sense.

    @wonderstruck: That's a good question. I feel like it's probably a little of both -- a lot of really embarrassing stuff was coming out about Sony, so I'm sure they wanted to stop that. But of course, terroristic threats are very scary as well. If it had been the FBI or someone demanding they cancel the movie I would definitely think it was purely the threats, but since it was Sony, I wonder if a large part of it is saving face. Or saving their employees from getting any more personal info stolen. Either way, I'm concerned that we're just sending the message that we will bend to this kind of behavior, which doesn't really seem like a good message I agree that they should have anticipated this earlier, it seems kind of dumb that Sony was apparently surprised at the lengths the North Korean government would go to in stopping this movie.

    @.twist.: @Ra: yep! I was never going to see it in theaters, but I kinda wanted to, just to stick it to those idiots

    @MrsSCB: I heard this morning that part of the mess with this is that the precedent that it sets is not good at all. It's an active worry on the part of the government, and I think rightly so.

    @LovelyPlum: Yeah, I was wondering if they even consulted with the government/FBI on what to do. Because it just didn't seem like a very smart idea to cave. From what you say it sounds like maybe they didn't....or they did, and then decided to cancel anyway. At the very least, I think they should make it available online or make DVDs or something to not completely give in.

    I voted no, but I wouldn't have anyway. It doesn't appeal to me at all.

    Isn't really the kind of movie I like, so I probably wouldn't see it because of that. Nothing to do with any hackers.

    Just in case anyone is interested in reading the very sexy George Clooney's take on all this:
