My account is private....I wonder if that makes a difference?
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
I'll still use it. I use all social media with the understanding that unless I own the site I'm posting on, none of the content fully belongs to me. Including my blogging here on Hellobee
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@mrs. wagon: phew because I just sold pics of your kids to a baby clothes catalog!
ps all bloggers on Hellobee still own their content!!
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@mrbee: sweet. I do not expect a percentage!! ;D But honestly I don't believe you because I'm positive they'd demand Charlie and Olive's pics first!! Haha.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@mrbee: oh haha and good to know, about the content! now I can publish my book "My Life as a Hellobee Blogger"
pear / 1728 posts
@autumnlove: from what I understand, it doesnt matter.
I havent decided if Ill still use it. I dont want pictures of my child being used without my knowledge. I dont care about compensation. But I dont want to click on a website and all of a sudden see my child.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@mrbee: lol!! don't let those celebrity stylists get to him...!!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@autumnlove: the article says "Another unusual addition to Instagram's new policy appears to immunize it from liability, such as class action lawsuits, if it makes supposedly private photos public. The language stresses, twice in the same paragraph, that "we will not be liable for any use or disclosure of content" and "Instagram will not be liable for any use or disclosure of any content you provide.""

DD is cute and all but what would they really do with her photos? I'm not too worried, I guess.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@LivsMama: I completely agree with you.
I'm really bummed. I love keeping up with HB users on IG!
pear / 1728 posts
@Andrea: Im not worred about what THEY would do with the photos. Its the rest of the creepers who look at them.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@LivsMama: I think the likelihood is low that they would use my photos? But maybe I am naive, I dunno!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@mrs. wagon: Can we jointly author that book? I'd like a cut from it.
I'm sort of wary of using Instagram and Pinterest because of some of the things in their terms and conditions, but that's mostly the lawyer in me that is paranoid.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@Mrs. Blue: sure! but who will the content belong to? heh
Just kidding. Unfortunately I don't have much to contribute yet, only "I feel guilty because I don't post enough"!!!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
I would love to find an easy way to add a watermark to all of my photos and then upload them. I mean, really it is about the same as posting pictures here. Anyone can "pin" them to pinterest and next thing you know your kids picture is all over!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Thehistoryofus: thats so true! you can pin anything.
I read a blog, and remember reading that they were contacted by police after a computer raid of a child pedo in another country showed innocent images of their daughter he had found on their blog.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@sorrycharlie: Omg, I saw that too, so scary. I wonder if it's the same one you were reading? I certainly hope so, because I really hope this doesn't happen super often, but I'm not confident if that is the truth. So disturbing.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@mrs. wagon: Agreed.
I don't do much that's very exciting, and the stuff that I do have posted on Instagram/blog/etc. is all stuff I'd be fine with anybody having access to.
grapefruit / 4554 posts
Just read the article and will be deleting my IG account. There are some things about my family life that I'd like to keep private.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@MrsSCB: probably! it's a popular blog - the spohrs?
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@crash806: how do you delete or inactivate your account? I think I'm going to wait til closer to the deadline just in case they decide not to do this, but I can't figure out how to delete it anyway.
grapefruit / 4554 posts
@sorrycharlie: you can log onto their website and delete it from there, I just did. And I feel kind of liberated right now..one less social media platform to check/ update
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@crash806: ok thanks, good to know!
I actually love instagram more than facebook so I'm totally bummed about this.

@Mrs. Blue: What does Mrs.Blue-the-lawyer feel is bad about Pinterest?
I hadn't put anything on Instagram because I felt this might happen. It's a shame, because it's a really nice idea.
pomegranate / 3452 posts
I feel like there is privacy risk with anything we post online ... FB, Twitter, IG, etc. My philosophy is not to post anything I'd not want to get out or be shared.
bananas / 9973 posts
I was going to ask this question yesterday. So far, my IG pics are mostly food, things, outfit pics, what have you, but I LOVE seeing all the HB and bloggers babies & kids on IG (so innocent and cute!) and would love to share when Baby Shopaholic gets here too! Especially since F&F that live far away can see a bit of each other's daily lives and baby growing, but I'm sort of hesitant now with the new IG's policy.
Would like to know how the other moms feel about it?
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
My husband wants me to stop. I'm trying to figure out if I can find a good watermark app that I can use and then we may be able to compromise.
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
if i were a professional photographer, then i might delete my account. but i doubt they want my pictures so i'll still use the site.
squash / 13199 posts
I dont use instagram but I definitely wouldnt want them to be able to sell my photo. Thats crazy
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I'll still use! I'll probably delete some old photos in my stream.
GOLD / pear / 1845 posts
@Mrs. Bee: but if it's anything like facebook they will pull photos using an algorithm, so they won't always pick the best photos out there.
I'm gone, I use instagram for private photo sharing with my close family and friends. My posse is taking off, we're trying to decide what to switch to. I know I post publicly on my blog and here, but I'm very careful what I post and I'm pretty protective of my little girls.
Also, they just shouldn't get away with policy changes like this, so I would boycott just for the heck of it.
honeydew / 7488 posts
Apparently they have backtracked the language they used and are saying their intention was not to sell your images.

I must be the only one who doesn't know how to use Instagram or what it means to follow someone. Lol I feel stupid now.
coconut / 8475 posts
I don't have one for this reason...I don't have FB either. Anyone can pin any picture from just about everywhere. I just don't feel comfortable with that.
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
@Mrs. Superhero: mr bee explained to me what they are actually doing and it's for targeted advertising purposes through your social network -- nothing to do with selling your pictures.
i still don't like it, but not enough to quit instagram.
