@Mamaof2: Maybe I’m just too old but I literally could not care less than I do about this wedding.

@wrkbrk: I'm with you. I really don't care at all, but I can't use my age as a reason. I just don't get it.

I watched Kate and William but I think I was more into it as I had recently gotten married too. This one I set it to record but probably won’t ever watch. I do want to see her dress.

I love me some Royals and plan to watch long enough to see what the VIPs are wearing. Edit: the timing is convenient.

My BFF and I are getting dressed up and going to tea Saturday to celebrate. It's really just an excuse for us to get together and have a girls' day without kids, but I'm excited.

@Mamaof2: yes I’ll be watching!! Canadian royal watcher here and I’m looking forward to the wedding. Smitten with the pomp & tradition! Can’t wait to see her dress!

Yup! I told my DD (4.5 yrs old) there is about to be a new princess. She's all excited to watch. I assume we wont watch it live, but I am thinking maybe I'll get them donuts and make it kind of a "special" morning to watch the replay. She's hardcore into princesses right now...so it fits her personality!

Yep, I'll be watching. It's a fun pop culture thing for me - like watching the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl.

4am here. So nahh
Also not very interested except I love the TV show Suits, which MM is in.

Yes! I love royals, weddings, England, tradition, and an excuse to forget about all of the crappy things going on in the rest of the world.

Yeah. I'm letting our LO sleep in our bed tonight so we can watch together when we wake up.

@Mrs D: that's what I meant. hahaha. Dang, I thought today was Friday!

yes! Mother's Day was kind of a bust bc DS ended up getting sick, so I asked for a do-over to watch the royal wedding as uninterrupted as possible (with a nursing break in there somewhere).

My cousins and I are having a sleepover and we are making headband facinators. I'm excited.

I watched Will and Kate’s but that was more social. I was in college and a bunch of us got up early. I don’t have anyone to watch it with now, but I totally would if I did. I’ll be sure to google some pictures after.

I may try to find it streaming if we are home, it will be the middle of the evening/dinner time here though. Like @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I also want to see what all the VIPs are wearing!

@krispi: This is a fun idea!
I don't care about the royal wedding - I'm sure I'll read an article online after the fact, pretty much just so I can discuss it if it comes up socially.... but that's about it.

I wasn’t planning to watch but @Mrs D: made me realize my DD would prob love to watch some real life princesses!
Either way, I’ll definitely check out what they wore after, I do find the royals intriguing tho I’m not obsessed by any means. Also I wonder what title they will get after the wedding (duke and duchess like big bro?)

CBS is reporting Meghan will walk part way down the aisle solo and then Prince Charles will walk her the rest of the way. WDYT? If your dad or VIP wasn’t available would you have wanted your FFIL to walk you? My dad didn’t come to my wedding and my mom wanted to walk me- I walked solo.

@Autumnmama79: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yes!!!! We will DVR and watch later as 4am is alittle too early for me to be in front of the TV haha but I love the Royals

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think its nice but if it were me I would have wanted my mom to walk me down if my Dad wasn't around
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@Mamaof2: something about it just weirds me out like she is 100% theirs now. Before that was announced I Googled if Gina Torres and Lawrence Fishburne were in London for the wedding. IDK maybe they were close and he could walk her down or something, but he’s no longer with Gina and likely wasn’t invited to the wedding.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: My mom and I were discussing this earlier today...she remarked that she would be pissed bc she'd want to walk her daughter down the aisle. But then in almost the same breathe she said "but it is nice for him, since he has no daughters he may not get to do it"...
So I guess if they are close or she was apprehensive about her mom doing it than its nice. From what I have seen/heard about her mom she is a very normal person, not into the spot light or anything, the idea of walking her down the aisle may have been too much or intimidating....I could easily see that...

Yes! I’m so excited. Of course it was a lot easier waking up for William and Kate’s wedding since it was before kids. Plus it was on a weekday so I took the day off from work! But this time will be a little harder to function afterwards.

I don't really like what the royal family represents, so I am not watching.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Dang! Meghan took us to church!!
The church looked beautiful and everyone just looked so happy and relaxed. I liked her dress, but thought it looked heavy in this weather (mine maybe not the UK). LO got a kick out of seeing the horses during the carriage ride.

@ElbieKay: Same. I am honestly puzzled by all the hype amongst adult women. It’s not like the royal family is particularly progressive or represents what we want to teach our kids....Not intending any hate! I’m honestly just surprised by all the interest.
persimmon / 1023 posts
We did! I rolled out of bed just as Meghan was stepping out of the car. It was fun to watch.
As for why there’s so much hype, I think it’s the nostalgia factor as well as the fact that there isn’t a lot of things these days that the entire world can watch and enjoy and be happy about for a few hours. I’m 33 and remember when Princess Diana died and William and Harry were total teen heartthrobs growing up. Now all those women and their moms are into the royal wedding. Of course the royals are not relevant anymore, and I bet we won’t hear as much about them after it all dies down...I guess until Meghan gets pregnant!

I am bored by wedding ceremonies when I know the people, so I definitely didn't set the alarm to watch this one. I am enjoying looking at the pictures of everyone's get-ups, though!

@muffinsmuffins: agreed on why it’s so popular. I was texting with a friend and we were wondering what message we were sending to our daughters but decided that sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy something magical.
pomelo / 5573 posts
I watched it with my boys, although I watched it on my phone while they toggled their attention between it and Madagascar. My oldest (4) was really into having all the princesses and princes and Queen and “King” pointed out. My littlest (2) kept touching Harry on the screen and saying “he beautiful! He beautiful!”
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@muffinsmuffins: I agree! It's way nostalgic for me. I remember Princess Diana, and William/Harry, etc.
I am sad that she's getting so much flack for her dress! I mean yes, it's kind of plain and may not be the most flattering for her. But girl, wear what you want, do whatever you want! I LOVE the light make-up on her. I think all the simple-ness allowed her to just shine.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
DD and I watched. My girls get up at about 630/7 anyways, so it worked out well. Here are my thoughts:
1) I was so impressed by Meghan. I feel she represented the US so well. I dont know her well to have had any specific thoughts on what she'd wear but I just wanted it to be classy - and it was.
2) That veil...in love...major swoon.
3) I loved the simple makeup look. I just really love her (and Princess Catherine) as positive examples for my girls. They dress appropriately and wear at least natural looking makeup.
4) I was meh over her reception dress.
5) Princess Harry is the cutest
6) Princess Charlotte tried to steal the show, it was so cute
7) I actually enjoyed the sermon...the whole service was well executed!
DD kept calling her the Wedding Girl...it was cute. She also remark that the Queen "made a bold outfit choice"...I told her she's the queen and is still killin it at 92, she can do what she wants!
