If you celebrate with gifts for Christmas/Hanukkah, will you have your child help you pick out a gift for their Dad or Mom? I was thinking it would be a good experience for my daughter to take her to a store, talk about what Daddy likes to do and have her pick something out for him. I can just see it now, she will want to pick out a baby doll for him, but we can try.

Oh I already asked her! And she picked out a Corgi. So... maybe we will try again, DH does not want another dog!!!

We are going to try it this year. I think I might narrow down a couple things and then let her choose that way.

maybe when they are older, although my 3 year old would love this. Daddy would get something pink and sparkly for sure

@mediagirl: I am getting him something for the Green Egg, so I might look for a couple other small things and let her pick from that. Otherwise maybe a coffee mug. I don't know. He is hard to buy for!

In the past I have taken them to home depot and let them pick - they usually get flashlights - DH has a gazillion flashlights now 
This year DS made us both something and then he wrapped them - cant wait see what it is

DH is picking out Christmas ornaments for me "from the kids" this year, and hopes to have them actually pick them in the future each year. This year he's choosing things based on their interests so it will prob be a penguin ornament and something related to balls. Ha! I will probably make "art" for DH from the kids for his present.

@mediagirl: my Mom just gave me an idea. Target usually has a shelf of gift stuff in the men's section. Like a mini pool table for a desk, etc. I think I am going to let her just pick something from there.

I am struggling with this so much right now! I want LO to give something to DH "from her," but I don't know what to get. At the moment, she's obsessed with all things owl-related, so maybe I'll go something that route??
