I signed DD up for a Spring session this morning. She's not old enough to take classes on her own at the Atlanta Ballet Centre, so we're doing a mommy and me class!

Yes! They offer it at her school (like $50 month for 1 hour session once a week).

If I ever have a DD I'd love to put her in dance classes! And soccer too.

@Leialou: YES! Our kids are doing soccer for sure too!

We tried pretty early on and it didn't go so well. We will probably try again now that she's older.

Yep! At least once I want to try it. They offer it during day care for an extra cost, so we will probably try it that way first.

If he wants to!
I studied classical ballet all through my school years, sometimes I wonder if I could've "made it" in the dance world I still attend the ballet a few times a year.
I'd love to see DS dance!

Yup. My mom has generously offered to pay for dance classes for LO when she's ready. My mom took dance as a child and I think she feels guilty that she wasn't able to do it for me.

Umm have you seen how freakin' adorable the ballet outfits are for little girls? Hells yes she will be in ballet! If nothing else just so I have an excuse to buy the clothes
She'll be in soccer, too! DH really wants to coach her team.

Yup! DD1 has been doing ballet for 7 months. I think DD2 will want to do it, too, but I will wait until she can go solo as well!

Yup! She's been in dance class for. Few months now and it's her favorite activity of the week!

My DD just started a dance sampler class - ballet, jazz, tap, irish dancing, etc
She is a little shy but she looks adorable!

If I had a DD I definitely would (I always wished I had) and if E wants to, absolutely.

yes!! I told my DH this weekend - if we have a girl, as soon as she's able to walk she'll be taking dance classes. I may have been exaggerating a bit

@lawbee11: b wants to coach soccer one day too! Maybe they'll coach in the same league! That would be so fun.

Yes, I would love to have DD take a dance (ballet?) class. I think she would enjoy it when she is a little older.

I said yes, but I guess I really mean I want her to try it and if she likes it, stick with it. If it's not her thing (it wasn't mine) then we'll find something else for her to try.

If I have a daughter - yes!!! I loved dance!
DH isn't keen on me putting DS in it, but if DS shows an interest in going, I'll definitely take him.!!

She's taken ballet and hip/hop on and off, but at least a few months a year while being 2.5-5 yo. Last year, she also did a Broadway dance camp. We just quit when she started kinder.
Perhaps she and her sis will start up again this fall. I took ballet for 10 years and love seeing them dance! We go to a non-competitive school where it's all about just dancing and performing for the love it (vs a traditional ballet school, where I went).

Heck yes! The little ball room dancing kids are so cool and talented. I am hoping my LOs show an interest in some form of dance- ballet, tap, ballroom something.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
I think so! I'd like her to at least give it a try. I was a gymnast as a kid and am obviously partial to that too.

J1 took tap dance for 2 years. This year he didn't want to. Next year J2 will start. I think it's good practice for them listening in large groups, I was a dancer for a long time, DH also took dance for years, so it's sort of a family tradition.

We will start her in creative movement dance class- probably when she is 3 or 4.

i work in the industry and know of a few great schools and teachers that I would love for her to be a part of. If she did dance she'd also be eligible to model in my companies catalogue

If I have a DD I will for sure! It was the one thing I wanted to do growing up and my parents wouldn't let me/couldn't afford it. I did music lessons instead.
If DS asks, I will. But I don't know how DH would feel about me signing him up without him having an interest in it first. We'll probably start with soccer.

I haven't decided yet. Maybe if she shows interest. I plan on putting her in gymnastics though.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Yes Dance and Gymnastics, she loves to watch Dancing with the Stars and gymanstics so I know she would LOVE it.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
I don't know about ballet,.but she will def be in some kind of dance class!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Possibly! But I want to sign her up for soccer first before any dance / ballet classes.

@chopsuey: SO CUTE. Post pictures of her in that, pronto.
The Y offers a mommy+me baby ballet, but I missed the most recent sign up. I'm going to keep my eye out for the next one. Sadie is awkward and clumsy, but you know I'm putting that kid in a tutu.
