I will let her have it once in a while when she gets older.

We really dont eat fast food (we'd rather get Chinese, sushi, Indian, etc, some kind of takeaway) so I'm hoping it's not an issue. I would say absolutely nothing until after she's 2.

I'm not going to forbid it or else she'll just want to eat it more. If there's a birthday party or something, I'm not going to punish her. She can go and have McDonalds.

i wouldn't go out of my way to give my kid fast food, and we don't go ourselves, but i don't rule it out. i have fond memories of being treated to fast food after soccer games and church. i also hope he won't want it all the time!

I think we'll approach this like my parents did (and my husband's too). For a "special" occasion like if we are traveling or something, or as others said a kids' birthday party, fast food is OK. But we won't just run through the drivethru 3 times a week or anything.

There's just nothing like french fries dipped in a Wendy's frosty!!

We're vegetarians and I worry about this day. We're really health conscious when it comes to food. Someday DS will have to make choices for himself, and I'll have to be okay with that, but until then I don't think we'll allow him to eat fast food.

@Arden: I feel the same way about Subway, Panera, Au Bon Pain, etc. it's not great but much better than other fast food if you're on the road, traveling.

I didn't know McDonald's still did birthday parties. I remember kids having them there when I was in grade school but not since then.

@rachiecakes: We're vegetarians too, so we don't really go to places like McDonalds even if we are desperate, because there is nothing on the menu we can eat...

If we need to eat on the run, it's typically Subway or Taco Bell, because there are always vegetarian, reasonably healthy options.

i don't see a problem with eating it once in a while, at a party, or travelling. it's a good opportunity to teach LO about moderation, as when she's older, it's inevitable she will be exposed to it and needs to make good decisions for herself.
