Clueless FTM moment - I have a late spring/summer baby and just came to the realization that I have to get all winter gear for my dd without really knowing what's necessary! What winter gear did you use most for your non-walking infant - she'll be 7 months by the time it starts getting cold! (I live in the Philly area for reference!)

We used bixbee uggs to keep her toes nice and warm. She was a bit younger than your little one will be but to keep her warn we used a shower cap style car seat cover for in and out of the house etc.
For stroller rides we used a gap snow suit and added layers as needed. Toddler sized fleece mittens were awesome because they were a piece of cake to put on, I didn't bother putting her thumbs on though.
This year we will use a warm jacket that is thin enough for the car seat (Patagonia down sweater is a favorite around here.) I am still trying to figure out footwear for this year though.
I also baby wore a lot, I used a fleece lands end vest, one size up, under my coat and could zip that around baby once she was in the carrier. I kept her car seat in the middle and just sat in the back and got her as situated as I could before getting out.

We had a fleece one piece bunting thing for her to wear in the stroller or carrier (one from old navy, one from carters, so nothing fancy). They were too warm and bulky for in the car though. I liked that they had foldover mittens attached instead of trying to put on separate one, and had a hood so I would just put a thin hat underneath that. I also had two kinds of car seat covers- the bundle me that went all around her, for when the car seat was in the stroller, and the shower cap style that we could use in the car or stroller (the bundle me was a hand me down, wouldn't have bought it since you aren't supposed to use it in the car).
Those are the big things. We parked in a garage so I would just have her in warmish regular clothes in the car seat and a blanket on top as needed. When we had to walk outside at our destination I wrapped the blanket around her and hurried.
Oh and she was always plenty warm in the carrier with regular onesie and pants and the fleece one piece. I would wear dhs fleece over both of us or just a sweatshirt and then my puffy coat mostly unzipped.

Oh and zutano fleece booties stay on way better than any socks or shoes that I ever found!

@Mamag511: actually, nothing! Just blankets, however we only went outside to transfer from the car.

Just wanted to add that along with warm stuff I used a plastic rain cover for the stroller to block out the cold wind a lot!

We live in a walking city with no car. We have a footmuff for our stroller and I bought little bootties (look like winter boots but not really intended for walking) from Zara for DD to keep her feet warmer. I had both a snowsuit and a puffer coat for her last year and would alternate depending on temperatures. I also had a fleece hat with ear flaps that tied under her chin and fleece gloves with Velcro around the wrists. Those stayed on half of the time.

I made a fleece car seat poncho and I'd use that to carry him to the car and into buildings, usually with a toque on as well. He had a one-piece snowsuit that we left at daycare because they went for walks every day. For the stroller I mostly used a fleece jacket and toque, mitts, and lots of blankets, but we didn't spend too much time in the stroller once it got cold because there was too much snow.

I don't remember buying any real winter gear for my daughter, who was about the same age in the winter as your LO will be... I guess we did buy a warm car-seat cover thing (the kind that goes over the carseat, not IN the carseat). OH, I also bought some zutano snap booties, which I LOVED.

My LO is an early summer baby as well, and for her first winter she lived in a couple of one-piece fleece “suits” that had arm and feet holes that folded over to cover up the hands and feet – these were not for wearing IN the car though, too bulky to be worn in the car seat while you’re driving. Soft, warm hats for sure, and she had some warm baby Uggs she wore a bunch too.
When we took her outside in her car seat, I always draped a warm blanket over the seat so she was kept warm, and tucked a warm but light fleece blanket over her in the car seat as well.

We had a couple of those fleece bunting things (I called them bear suits because these days they always seem to have bear ears on the hood). I'd add an additional hat underneath but otherwise they were perfect because you didn't need gloves or boots/booties. And I'd just throw a thick blanket on top of her on the coldest days. We have a walking commute so it didn't matter if she was super bulky. In the car, I think we mostly stuck to just putting a blanket over her. She used to overheat in the carseat even in the winter so we didn't really need anything heavy.
