I'm looking for something like the Patagonia down sweaters for the kiddos, but I just can't afford Patagonia prices. Ideally I'd like something warm but not bulky. They have big bulky coats but as new walkers they have a hard time moving around in them. Any ideas? We'd need something that comes in 12-18 month size, not just 2T.

I have a REI brand down jacket for my son (12-18 month) and it works great! I've also had great luck buying slightly used north face and patagonia jackets for around $30-50 on ebay or kidizen (app).

Old Navy has some options. Do you want something for playing outside, or for car rides. For just being outside in 40 ish weather to play I like the Sherpa lined sweatshirts.

LL Bean has great sherpa lined sweatshirts as well as heavy fleece coats that are on the thinner side.

I just bought a Patagonia baby down sweater for $62 on campsaver.com earlier in the week. Not sure if they are still on sale there. We buy it big and then get 2 winters out of it.

Costco has Snuza light weight down jackets for $20. I got 18m size recently. It's perfect for being car seat compatible.

I can't find the exact jacket but we bought a 2T Weatherproof brand down sweater on Amazon for less than $20. This link has a down alternative fill, but ours is actual down.
I also got a poofy Columbia jacket for playing outside, but in retrospect the down sweater is stinkin warm!

I bought DS a Columbia jacket that works great! Nice and warm but still thin enough to wear safely in the car seat. It's called the double trouble. Its $44 and there's a coupon for 25% off!

We just got the LLBean power puffer and we love it. It seems super warm, and while it's too puffy to wear in the car seat it's not so puffy that it limits her movement (she's 16 months and has only been walking for about 2 months). We got a 2T and she'll probably wear it next year as well. It does come in smaller sizes and I think the 12-18 month would fit her well now (32 inches tall, 25 pounds)

@woodentulip: these look great but I can't seem to find them in anything smaller than size 4. Am I missing the infant/toddler sizes?
