Has it made you reconsider going on them?
I do think roller coasters in general are always trying to test the limit (be the highest, fastest or break a record).
Reading the horrible tragedy that happened to the 10 year old boy on the world's tallest water slide freaks me out.
Then all the other accidents that have happened this year. Carnivals are having accidents. The girl that got her hair caught in the ride and it scalped her. I think last I heard she was blind.
I like roller coasters but always trust that they were safe and they did everything possible to make sure riders are safe. But I'm beginning to think amusement parks and carnivals are not regulated properly. They said most rides are regulated on a state level.
I know accidents happen but it just seems like something else needs to be done.
I don't think this is a social media issue. While I think we see more of these stories, the bar for the most thrilling ride is always raised.
What do you think? Have you reconsidered taking you or your kids to amusement parks and carnivals.
Do you think these accidents are just that and can't be avoided?
That's horrible. I can't even imagine.
Awful! If you see videos of the building of the water slide, they had rafts fly off the ride. They rebuilt the ride before it opened. They said they based the waterside off of roller coasters and it didn't translate well. Reminds me of my days playing Rollercoaster Tycoon but instead this is real life!
We all are different types of risk takers and have tolerance levels based on our personality and past experiences.
but I do think you have to put it in perspective -- how many millions of people ride amusement rides with no incident?
