WOHM's - when do you get dressed for work (in relation to getting your LO up and ready for the day)?
Do you get up and dressed before the kids? Do you dress later, while they are otherwise occupied? What's your routine?

Well, I get up and get ready and get dressed and LEAVE all while Xander is still sleeping!
But I know Hubs gets dressed before he gets Xander up and dressed, if that helps!

@Adira: some days I wish I could get up, get dressed, and sneak out before everyone else woke up!

I get up and get showered and mostly ready (hair, make-up) before DD wakes up. After I shower, I usually put on a light dress or yoga pants and a t-shirt to wear while I make breakfast, get DD ready, etc. Putting on my clothes is the very last thing I do before I leave the house.

I get dressed just before we leave, so I don't get any baby/toddler mess/sticky stuff/drool/etc on my work clothes. I get LO dressed first, then myself.

Well, E gets up usually around 6:30 now, and I get up at 5:00--I make dinner or work out and pack the car up, etc. I don't get dressed until I'm ready to walk out the door (in case she throws food at me or something). She just hangs out on the floor with a book or a toy while I put some clothes on. I set my clothes OUT, but I don't put them onI feed her as soon as she gets up.
So she eats, then I dress her, then I get dressed, then we leave.

I shower, put my makeup on, and get my hair ready but I wait to get dressed until right before we leave. Otherwise, I will be wearing spit up.

I get up and dressed before she wakes up. Much easier

@cmomma17: haha, it is convenient sometimes!
I should add, Xander gets breakfast at daycare, so Hubs just gets him up and dressed and then the leave - so he gets himself ready to go first before getting Xander.

@Adira: we are usually cleaning oatmeal out of C's hair in the AM so both of us get dressed at the last minute

I get dressed after I pass the baby off to her daddy, no chance of spit up accidentally ending up with me at work.... Learned the hard way!

We get dressed at the same time. He is 3 now and often showers with us so we get dressed together.

I never know what time C is usually going to wake up, but he usually hangs out with me while I get ready so DH can get enough sleep. I put my clothes on last thing before I walk out the door.

@cmomma17: Most days yes. She isn't hungry right away for the most part. Just depends on the day and what time she woke up.

My clothes are last. I get up and do hair/makeup before he wakes up though, or at least I try! Then he gets up, we get him dressed, get him a cup of milk and he hangs out while I get dressed right before we walk out the door.

It's one of the last things I do. We don't actually wake up til she does (she's our alarm clock!), so we wake up anywhere from 5am-6am. Either way, it leaves us plenty of time, so I just walk around getting ready in my pjs until about 6:45, and we are out the door at 7:15.

My husband gets dressed after the kids eat....right before they leave for daycare!

LO and I wake up around the same time. We go for a short walk, then have breakfast, brush our teeth together and then when i am ready to leave, i get dressed and do my makeup while he gets into stuff in my room (i.e., hangs out with me). So getting dressed is the last thing I do.

We wake when LO does and then DH and I take turns watching her while the other gets ready. Over the last couple weeks, she's been sleeping until 7 or so, so if that continues, I may try to get up earlier so I can be ready before she wakes. Before that, she was consistently waking between 5 and 6, so we didn't bother getting up before her.

Ugh it varies. T is so unpredictable. I AIM to wake up at 5am and get ready completely then wake T up around 6:30, get him ready, nurse and go. This was how it was for about a month when I went back to work. But lately he's been waking at 4am or around 5:30ish or 6am to nurse so I just play it by ear. I can't establish a routine whatsoever. He'll sleep until 7 some mornings and wake for the day at 5:30 sometimes. If he's up while I'm getting ready I have to entertain him the best I can. He is only 4 months and can't entertain himself. Then he gets overtired and throws a fit and won't nurse and then I have to be late for work so I can let him sneak in a nap. OMG it sucks.
DH is long gone to work by 4:30 so I'm on my own!

Depends on what time she wakes up, sometimes I am dressed before and sometimes after she wakes up.

DD wakes us up by singing and chatting in her crib. I do a diaper change and nurse her, then pass her off to DH so I can shower and get mostly dressed. Then he showers and dresses while I get her dressed (if he hasn't already done that), and he gets her into the car seat while I do last-minute stuff. We all ride to work/daycare together.

I'm out of the house before LO gets up. I'm at work by 6am and he doesn't get up until 7:30-8am

I get up at 6:30, wash my face, brush my teeth, put my make up on and get dressed. Then we get DD up at 7, get her dressed, I nurse her, then we go downstairs for breakfast.

I get up and put on makeup, etc. DH gets LO up and then I take her while he has a shower. I get dressed while he showers and take her down for breakfast. DH gets dressed after breakfast (I leave during breakfast).

I get up when the kiddos wake up, give them some milk in bed, and then shower/get ready while they drink their milk and play in their cribs. Sometimes, I'll turn off my hairdryer and hear crying, but 9 times out of 10, things are totally fine.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
DH usually goes to get her when she wakes up. Sometimes she wants me only so I will stop getting ready and hang with her for a minute. Then she'll hang in our bed while I finish getting ready. Then either DH comes to get her dressed after taking the dog out or I will change her for the day if he isn't back yet.
Usually DH gets her ready while I get ready.
She's up by 6:30a and we're out the door by 7:10. DH doesn't have to be at work till 10am.

@yoursilverlining: This morning i made the mistake of getting dressed (in silk, no less!) before LO was done eating. Well, tantrum ensues, she wants a hug and i'm fending off yogurt-granola hands off of my shirt!
I usually get dressed while she's eating.
honeydew / 7091 posts
I takes me all of 5 minutes, so I get ready before I go get her. 50% of the time she's still sleeping, 25% she's content playing with her stuffed animals in bed, and 25% she's screaming at me to come get her. The screaming doesn't start off a morning very well!

I bring my son to my mom's house in his pajamas, but I shower at night and then straighten my hair in the mornings.
I get dressed after my son is awake, but he's with my husband. We do not eat before we leave.

I get up and ready before DS wakes up, if possible. Otherwise, it's 50/50 on his mood being good enough for me to leave him on the ground to play while I get ready. If he's in a no bueno mood, oh man...

I always leave before J has even woke up for the day! I leave the house by 7:08 am. So I'm usually up by 6am and have an hour to get ready all to myself.
