I'm at the 9.5 month mark and it's been challenging to balance work and pumping. I pump twice and it's about 30 minutes each session so I have to try and make up the work somehow (usually bring it home). My goal was 6 months so I think I'll probably start weaning within the next few weeks.

I EBF and pumped until 13 months for DS (first LO was FF after 4 months). Toward the end, I was down to one pump during working hours since DS was so into his solids. Your 1 yr goal is not unrealistic at all, but it might be challenging at times. It really helped that my work had a nice lactation room and a hospital grade pump, which I was able to use for the first several months until I had to change locations and pump in a restroom :-/. I was prepared to supplement with formula at any time it became needed, but we never needed to. You can do it!

I am 3 weeks in and still EBF. (Came back to work after 3 months of leave). I can def see a change in my supply on my pumping days (i work from home two days a wk/nurse on those days+wknd).

I'm hoping to make it to a year, but my short term goal is six months when we start solids.

I work part time (differen amount of hours each week) so I'm not sure if this counts but I did pump at work. We EBF'd for 21 months. At 13 months LO did get 8 oz of a prescription formula but that was because he did not eat solids and did not influence BFing.

I was doing well until I got sick for the first time last week. My supply always stayed great and I didn't run into any plugged duct problems or anything but when I got sick, I was constantly afraid of mastitis (I got it the first day back at work!) and I was so weak I could barely sit up long enough to pump. It's been tough scheduling in 4 pumps a day with 2 kids and a full time job, so Wagon Sr. and I were talking about stopping soon, especially since LMW is almost 8 months and I have a good frozen stash. So since I had to take decongestants for the most debilitating sinus headache ever, (and decongestants are a lactation suppressant) I took the opportunity to go down to 3 pumps a day. My supply has gone down about 10 oz / day and I'm now just BARELY pumping enough for her each day. I'll probably continue with 3 pumps a day for at least another month or so then keep dropping pump sessions gradually.

For me it's really just the complexity of the two kids and all the stuff I need to do every day. I would have loved to make it to a year but it's a HUGE time commitment. Having to drop everything to be unavailable to work or kids 4 times a day for 20 mins each is difficult to maintain every single day. Also, for me it was exclusive pumping, no nursing after she was about 12 weeks old.

LO is almost 11 months and we are still going strong. I went from 3 to 2 pumping sessions at work. I usually do 2 15-20 minute sessions (for a total of 20-30 minutes away from my desk) but I don't feel bad about the time away since I use my time for lunch as pumping sessions.

I pump once more before bed.

I don't know how long I will continue, I am willing to keep pumping until 18 months, but I do want to drop to 1 pump session at work eventually (maybe 2 pumps a day?)

@mrsjyw: @MsLipGloss: Monday and Tuesday are my biggest output days. By Friday I am pumping the bare minimum!

@mrsjazz: When did you drop a session? Do you still yield the same amount??

I'm at 10+ months and still EBF combined with solids.

I agree with MrsWagon. It sounds like you have all the right things for success!

I WOH and was able to meet my goal of BFing for a year! I pumped about 3 times a day!

This is my 5th week back and so far so good. I've even added to my freezer stash. I'm only part time right now. Gone for almost 6 hours. I'm hopin to make it to a year, but nervous about when I have to work full time again.

I've had to supplement 1 bottle of formula since she was born. Besides that she's EBF and she is now just over 10 months. I'm optimistic to make it to a year now despite some supply issues last month. I'll likely wean nursing before pumping.

I pump 3x a day and won't be introducing cows milk till at least 13months.

I'm at 4.5 months and last week supplemented with formula for the first time. He's had about 4 bottles of half breast milk and half formula... I'm hoping to get back to 100% breast milk, but it did take off some of the stress when, for whatever reason, my supply was down & I couldn't make enough, so we had to add a little in.

I'm OK with it once in a while, but my goal is to make it as long as possible breast feeding, so we'll see!

10.5 months and still going. Its hard, but doable.

I had a huge freezer stash before I went back to work and that has made all the difference.

I was able to pump for 10 months, until LO was just shy of 13 mos. I only pumped 2x a day at work, which helped. I had a shared office but was able to pump under the cover and use the hands free bra which helped me use my time effectively. It can be a pain and some days are better than others but it was sooo worth it! I did add a 3rd pumping session after LO went to bed for months 9-12 but this was after a nasty cold caused a big drop in my supply.

LO is now 15 months and I continue to nurse morning and evening although I dayweaned. It has been such a great part of our relationship!

So it definitely is possible but you will have to see how it works for you. Good luck!

@ladyfingers: My LO is 8.5 months old, and he is still exclusively breastfed. I pump 3x day at work, once more at night after he goes to bed, and I nurse first thing in the morning and before bed. I've been back at work FT since mid-October, and the hardest time was definitely the first month or so. Hard to get used to so many breaks, worried about getting enough milk, etc. To this day, my LO has never had a drop of formula.

I'll echo others and say that it's helpful to have both support at work and a network of online or real life friends to cheer you on. Good luck, and please let us know if you need some support!

We've hit a year and though he's starting to wean, I've been able to pump twice a day at work. My boss doesn't like that I take time to pump but it's the law and I've never really engaged her on the subject. She's made it clear she doesn't approve of lots of things that are none of her business but she's a bit of a silly person and I try not to let it bother me. Again, it's the law.

11.5 months. I always offered, DS just preferred solids. It's still a struggle to get liquids in him.

7.5 months here, have been back at work and pumping since 12 weeks. Hoping to make it to 2 years, but would be thrilled with 1 year - so far, so good. I go home at lunch, though, so I only have to pump twice a day.
