I'm worried that my husband and I have set up bad habits with my son (in fact, I know we have...) - he's only 9 1/2 weeks old, but I have this hopeless feeling that we've ruined him and his sleep forever (can you tell its bedtime and I'm being overly dramatic!?)
He was a super sleepy newborn, so there was never really an opportunity to train him to go down drowsy but awake. Basically as soon as he fed, he fell asleep for the first month. After that, we got in the habit of rocking him to sleep. He always went down pretty easily, though as he's getting older its getting harder. At bedtime he's usually up and down 2, 3 or 4 times before he falls asleep for good, and his crying escalates very quickly once it starts. Naps are bad too, and I usually end up letting him sleep on me so he gets some sleep.
Everything I've read tells me its too early to sleep train, but I'm worried that the longer we stay in this routine the harder it will be once we actually do have to sleep train (and I have no doubt that we will have to, at some point!).
Can anyone offer any insight? Advice?
