Since I grew up in Southern California, I'm used to sunny weather year round. But I've been in New York almost 10 years now, and this is by far the worst winter we've had in terms of how cold it is and how much snow we've had! Plus we've never had the entire family sick for a week at the same time.
So for us this has been the worst winter ever.

Temperature-wise, yes. But snow-wise, no way. This hasn't been too bad. I was out of school for a week in junior high due to a blizzard. Last year's blizzard was pretty bad too.

I'd say that so far, this is the longest we'd have steady bouts of snow..
In terms of one snowstorm, though, we got a good 3' the winter we moved into our house. We were stranded for two days. I was kind of bummed it happened over the weekend -- if it's going to snow like that, can't it at least be on a Monday?!

Definitely not! I can remember winters where there was SO much more snow and winters that were a lot colder than this one!

Nah. Not for us. We really haven't gotten much snow this season. Last year we had a TON of snow. We haven't had any really crazy storms this winter, which is kind of a bummer because I love being snowed in

I think it is for us.. we've got about 5 feet of snow on our lawn, snow banks at the end of the driveway are over 6 feet!

I guess I'd have to say my "worst winter ever" was the 1998 ice storm where we lost power for 2 weeks and had to stay in a shelter... but to be honest I kinda look back at it fondly now lol!!

It's been one of the coldest winters here. It is really snowy, but all our winters are insanely snowy! Schools have closed due to dangerously frigid temps about 5 times in January. That was odd since I never remember that happening before.
ETA: and we haven't had any real blizzards (yet). If we had several that might constitute the "worst"

Snow wise this is the worst winter since I was a little kid. LO was born in the middle of a blizzard and it has snowed every day since She was born.

Oddly enough, this is one of the more mild winters I have experienced in a long time. The temperatures seem to be unusually mild in much of Europe this year. We definitely suffered last year though.

Not in the PNW. We only had one light dusting of snow, no rain in January and it's been about 45 degrees every day.

Nope, I'm in the northwest and it's been really really mild. No snow, little rain, lots of sun and usually in mid to high 40/

Three years ago we were iced in for 3 days. DH and I in our little condo, we had cabin fever so bad. Luckily we were in the city so we could walk to a restaurant for lunch at least.

Not bad here (Oregon). A few snow dustings that lasted a day or so but that's about it. It was unusually cold from the end of November to mid-December though!

Snowed in for days and I slipped on black ice when I was 32 weeks pregnant with dd.

well, CA is in a serious drought and it was in the 70s/80s for a lot of january, so it has almost been the worst in the fact that it's NOT been winter.

same as @birdofafeather: . Its been super warm here in AZ. I think I only had to "defrost" my windshield three times this winter. And it wasn't icy or anything, just fogged up. It makes me worry about how hot this summer will be!

Worst winter ever. I happen to have a baby plus it is extra treacherous plus I live in a place like a tiny closet on a 4th floor with a million tiny halls and stairs (hard to get out!) Having a bad day but I have lived in cold weather and mountains my whole life and this winter is brutal. So much so we are hoping to move to California and making plans to in a few years.

I'd say this is one of the worst socal winters ever… but it's because it's too HOT… january is usually our coldest month, but there was a statewide drought declared and it was mostly in the 80s-90s all month!

Only regionally- we have had one of our mildest winters yet. We've only had about 3 weeks of uncomfortably cold temperatures in AZ. I'm still growing tomatoes right now without any problems, that is super rare for us!

Mmmm it's probably the worst winter I can remember since I've been an adult. But I seem to recall worse ones in terms of huge storms and frigid temps when I was a kid. I still live in the same area I grew up in. I guess I'd say it's maybe the coldest winter in 10 or 12 years, and the snowiest winter in 4 or 5 years?

We're in Chicago, and this is one of the worst winters we can recall!! The multiple days of -25 degree wind chill were insane, and we KEEP getting snow, with no end in sight!!

Although now that I think about it, you could say it has been the worst winter ever- no snow!! Since I live in a dry, western state we depend on the winter snowfall for water. No snow=no water=bad news.
So I guess I'll change my answer. It has been an especially bad winter! But for a different reason

I've lived up here (in PA) for 9 years this year, and I think this is the snowiest winter I can remember. We had a big blizzard in Philly a few years back, but I feel like that was more of a solitary event. It seems like it's been almost non-stop snow here for at least the last 6 weeks. We got a good amount today, and are expecting another several inches tomorrow night.
But for the most part, I don't think it's bad, just more than I'm used to getting...
ETA: My bro and SIL live in MO and said their kids are on their 12th snow day there!

I think it has been bad, ya. Lots of school closures so it hasn't been a very productive January for me. February isn't off to a good start either. 3 snow storms this week.

It's actually been the opposite here. It's been the best winter this year. We usually get a lot of rain and gloomy days during our winters, but we've been getting no rain and a lot of sun. I was playing outdoor tennis just yesterday - in february! crazy! NYC sounds so brutal right now.
