I just don't know. In my area the OB's won't do a breech birth, and I'm pretty sure our midwives won't either. As important as natural birth is to me, I think I'd do everything I could to get that baby to flip, but opt for a section if s/he didnt.

I voted no because my son was breech and I opted for the c-section. My ob wouldn't try for vaginal and I trust her. However, I do know someone who had a breech home delivery that was free of complications.

I am crazy but I would attempt both a breech and a twin birth vaginally. I am a twin and we were a vaginal birth (mother didn't know we were twins until she was in labor). My sister had twins 6 years ago and delivered vaginally. Now that's because they didn't know there was a baby b (and suspected it was dead). They did do a vacuum assist for baby b. All three were and are doing well. My family has twins so I feel that we are probably equipped to handle it.

My twin was also a breech birth.

I would, but it's not really an option in my area. There is one OB who might do it at the University Hospital, but you aren't guaranteed it. Basically, the closest place we could go would be to The Farm Midwifery Center, and that's around five hours away.

    Breech? No.

Non-breech multiples? Did it with a successful outcome. Luckily, both my babes were head down my whole pregnancy, and I went into my induction with no complications. But it was pretty much as Mrs.Jacks described, in the OR prepped for an emergency C if necessary. A midwife assisted my OB and started an u/s and pushing on my belly immediately after baby A was born to keep baby B moving the right way, so B was born really quickly. I fully acknowledge how lucky we are that all went so smoothly. Sometimes I still can't believe it.

I personally wouldn't ever have a Breech delivery. I couldn't even get my little guy out naturally and he was head down.

Nope wouldn't attempt it. a healthy baby with minimal risk for both of us is more important to me then delieving vaginally.

@MerryC: see, that I can get behind, because you hoped for the best, anticipate the worst and your time to delivery if you did need a section would have ensured the beat possible outcome.

no - too risky. all i want is my baby alive and healthy in the end. i don't care how i deliver... it's just a means to an end.

@heartonastring: I'm in Canada (Ontario) and it was not an option for me to even try to delivery breech baby vaginally. My OB wouldn't, and she said she doubted I'd find anyone who would.

@travelgirl1: it definitely depends where you are. DD turned breech at 34 weeks (she turned back later), so it was something we explored. The hospital that handles L&D where I live is a multiregional centre with a level III NICU and deals with a lot of very high risk stuff. They are open to it here. My understanding is that obstetrics best practices vary a lot from centre to centre and, again, it depends on the type of breech presentation. And regardless of how individual centres/doctors handle it, the SOGC does support vaginal breech deliveries given certain criteria.
