Where would you buy from?
I need a new Mac and I was just curious if anyone had any input on the topic. I did purchase refurb last time (2010) on a desktop. I want to purchase new, but DH wants a refurb. It has to be pretty stellar... Thanks in advance!

DH bought a refurbished iMac directly from Apple a while ago. We have had no trouble with it.

Yes, we always purchase refurbs. The one I'm currently typing on has lasted us 4 years and counting. We get ours directly from Apple.

i'm ALL about apple refurbs from them. save a bunch and get a nice upgrade. we only purchase apple computers, so this is our only way to save.

I bought a certified refurb desktop and ipad from apple. Absolutely would do it again! No problems and saves money.

Yes, my hubby just bought one. Got it directly from apple and it was basically brand new.

I would, especially if it was a really good savings... and I'd buy the extra AppleCare Warranty too, as long as refurbs are covered

Yes, my husband works in the IT world and that's all we buy. I suggest purchasing one directly from Apple.

i bought a desktop refurbished computer - and had to have fixed - which they couldn't do, so they just replaced it with a brand new one! granted this is 9 years ago, and customer service with apple, while still good, isn't as good as it once was.

We bought one years ago through Apple and it was a lemon. It was awful! We had to go in to have it fixed over and over. It was so bad that Apple finally replaced it with a brand new MacBook.
That experience has made me a little gun shy on ever buying another refurbished one. I'm glad they replaced it eventually, but the amount of time it took going in over and over and dealing with support on the phone was crazy.
It sounds like our experience is the exception though.
