If I knew the person I would take it - but even knowing its just plastic and can be bleached - I couldn't bring myself to buy a used one.

I did. I bleached the sh*t out of it and it's now sitting in the closet until she's ready.

Our friend gave us their potty and I don't have issues using it for LO. I guess it really depends on how much of a germaphobe you are.

I wouldn't buy a used one, but someone asked to borrow DD's potty and we gave it to them.
I cleaned and disinfected it with every use so looked as good as new!
watermelon / 14467 posts
I would, but I would disinfect the heck out of it before her bum touched it.

Nope. I wouldn't feel like I could ever get it clean enough.

I have a Bjorn potty that I could see selling used. Heck you could throw the whole thing in the dishwasher.
I find that the actual potty seats that go over the toilet actually seem to get dirtier/have smaller crevices than a potty chair.

I don't know. Part of me wants to say "OF COURSE NOT". But then again, I bought my house "used" and I certainly didn't replace all the toilets.

@T.H.O.U.: OMG WHAT?? You put the potty in the DISHWASHER???? I don't think I could handle that. I would be unable to eat of my plates that went in the dishwasher after that.

I wouldn't... They're not crazy expensive so I would just buy a new one .
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@MamaMoose: I didn't say I had done it, I'm just saying the bjorn one is just two pieces. Once it was bleached and cleaned, you could run it through a hot wash in the dishwasher if you wanted.

I just bought two bjorn potties for fifteen apiece on CL! They look good! Gonna bleach them until I have no brain cells left.
I'm thinking, eventually we use a public toilet, right?

@mediagirl: @T.H.O.U.: I did it!
I feel good. I feel liberated.
Now I just need not to get shanked when I do the CL meetup.
T.H.O.U. I hope your potty sells!

@blackbird: yes, this is exactly what I needed to hear, lol!
Maybe I can resell these eventually!
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
I would not. The ick factor is just too much for me.
@looch: I replaced the seat covers when I rented an apt, lol.
pomegranate / 3411 posts
i dont think i would! even though i didn't think to change the seat covers in my apt and i am grossed out it now! we changed them last week, but not when we moved in 3 years ago!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
I wouldn't. We changed our toilet seats when we moved into our house.
