Theoretically I would LOVE to homeschool my children! I am already a stay at home mom, it shouldn't be too bad. But then again I would like them to go to school so they can develop socially.... such a hard choice

I would love to homeschool, but I don't think I am qualified or knowledgeable in teaching enough to sufficiently provide the proper education for my child. Of course there is the social interaction that he might be missing out on, and I feel better knowing that he can get that stimulation from a school setting.

Both my husband and I were educated in the public school system, and we don't have any regrets. I do want to challenge my son in ways beyond what is provided in school, and I will try my best to extend his education into the weekends and during the summer months.

I would love to homeschool, but it just depends if we can afford for me to stay at home. Our little guy is only 3 weeks old, so we have time I guess. LOL

No, but I do think that schooling and education go far, far beyond the classroom. I hope to stay as involved as possible in our children's educations and instill in them a strong work ethic and a love of learning.

I think, especially in my area of California which is predominantly low income Hispanic, there's a huge divide between the kids with parental involvement and those without. Those without tend to be much farther behind and I think they also tend to slow the rest of the class down which can lead to boredom and laziness in the brighter students.

I was fortunate to have both a mother who cared enough to invest time in my education outside of school and teachers who pushed me just a little harder than the other kids. I really hope that my children's teachers do they same for our kids, if they need it.

We don't have kids yet, but we both agree on our answer. No, for a variety of reasons. We went to college with many many students who had been homeschooled and too many of them lacked appropriate social skills, and for lack of a better term street smarts/ or life skills. I think of course many homeschooled kids totally had those things, but I think so many didn't that it just put a bitter (and I hate to say it but a little judgmental) taste in my mouth. I just have no desire to do that, out of fear of if I was sheltering my children too much. However I do understand that a successful education comes from the home too, in both what I teach my children and how I support them! I also do respect people who homeschool, because I know that its hard, and I especially respect people who do it the best way, and keep their children active in other things so that they are balanced, they receive socialization, school, and extra curricular activities.

No I wouldnt consider home schooling because I want my kids to experience school life and all that comes with it. Looking back some of my best friends are people are met in the 1st grade and I have many great memories from school. I dont want my kids to miss out on those experiences.

I'm actually not sure about this one. I'm a huge proponent of public schools (I went to public schools and was pretty happy with my education), but I think that as the world changes, having to sit in a classroom with 30 other kids and 1 teacher may not be the best way to prepare for it. My husband and I have talked about this a lot, and we'll probably keep talking about it until we have kids at that point. (And I'd like to point out that this is a pretty big shift for me - I never thought I'd want to homeschool my kids as I do believe strongly in the public school system.)

I wouldn't. I think kids really benefit socially from going to school. To be honest, I know there are well-adjusted homeschooled kids, but I haven't met any of them. The public school system is not perfect, but I don't think homeschooling is the solution for most kids. Not to mention that I feel like it would be overwhelming to spend every waking second with your children like that! School is good break for parents and kids

DS went to private school for kinder & 1st grade and we've just started home-schooling him.

I found a curriculum that I LOVE and it encourages the character growth that is important to us. We have friends that have used this particular curriculum and their daughters who've just started the high school curriculum are awesome! (they have 6 kids.. another on the way)

I did alot of research and found only positive things on home-schooling. Everything from being able to filter what's coming in... being able to fully explain concepts that often get misunderstood in a classroom with multiple kids setting, and b/c of the one on one time many of those who were home-schooled scored much better on educational tests & are more involved in culture and community as adults.

I'm still very new at it, and am needing to find my own niche but I'm really happy with our choice.

We were not homeschooled and there is no way I could be a teacher, to my kids or other people's kids. It's just not in me. I have very high praise for most teachers because they do a LOT and hardly ever get a pat on the back for the hard work they put in. I'll send my kids to one of those teachers in a school somewhere.

Personally, no because I couldn't handle the home schooling. If I was a SAHM, I might consider it but since I'm not planning on being a SAHM. This isn't really an issue for me.
