your coworkers (who have colds/coughs) have been putting their hands into the same bag (and not washing their hands first)?
I really, really want some, but I just got over a bad cold/sinus infection, and I'm scared to take that risk. But the pistachios are sitting right next to my desk. Oh the torture!
Am I being too much of a germophob?

if i knew that sick folks were putting their hands in there, probably not. otherwise it would not occur to me and i'd unwittingly mow through that bag of goodness. if i did know, i'd probably go buy myself a brownie to eat instead!

Hahaha, I would, only because I couldn't resist and I'd figure that since I just got over being sick, my body would still be on defensive overdrive, so I wouldn't get sick again.... totally flawed logic, I know

Are they shelled? If so, then yes I probably would.
We just got a big jar of popcorn and pretzels. At least with the pretzels they are large enough that you can just touch the ones you are taking (big log pretzels).

Ok you guys are making me feel so much better about avoiding them. I think I'll take a trip to the vending machine... I need a chocolate fix now.

Nope. Also, I got some of those from Costco last night and they are only OK. Nothing like the chocolate and caramel covered macadamia nuts, my favorite.

@BabyBoecksMom: Do you work with animals? is there a serving device? large spoon? They are ruining a perfectly good batch of pistachios. The humanity.. I am sorry - that sucks but I would definitely avoid them.

I never eat anything out of a common bag/bowl that isn't individually wrapped (even if the people that are eating from them aren't sick). I've seen too many of those 60 minutes episodes where they swab those kinds of things. The stuff that lives in those is disgusting! You wouldn't believe how many people don't wash their hands after using the restroom.

No. If we have something communal like that at work, we pour it into a bowl, stick a spoon it, and put plates/napkins out that everyone uses.
