In general I am pretty anti out right copying when it comes to design-y things. But I feel like I found the *perfect* nursery on Pinterest the other day which is making me consider this. I wouldn't purchase each item in there because some of it is out of our range, and some of of the things are thrifted items/family pieces but I would be able to copy the paint, rug, glider, and color inspiration.
How would you feel if someone copied your nursery?

@citymouse: I totally would, and if anyone ever copied my nursery (which they wouldn't because ours is totally plain!) I would be nothing but flattered!!! In fact, anything of mine that has made it onto pinterest, if anyone ever copied me I'd totally love it.

I would too! I'm using a nursey I found as "inspiration", but I'm not straight out copying it.
After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

We totally copied a nursery I found online. We used the same color paint and painted the same pattern on the wall and installed similar floating shelves. The furniture and decor are different though.

I would totally do this. I found a lot of inspiration for DS's nursery on Pinterest and love how it came out.

Absolutely! If you truly love it, why not? It isn't like anyone gets graded on their nurseries or like it is a job you're getting paid to design. It's your own home and if you love it, you should do whatever you want.

Yes totally. And since you're not buying the same thing, I would say that is more inspiration rather than copying.

Its not like it literally will be the same room in your house. The floor plans will probably be different, the furniter may be the same style but different, and like you said the small details will be different.

Yes, I assume it's out on Pinterest for a reason & I would be flattered if I heard a stranger used our exact nursery (if it was a close friend it might be a little weird ha)

I did! It's not exactly like the one I saw on Pinterest, but pretty close. That's why Pinterest is there, for design inspiration!

Agreed with all of the above. Although I do feel like a lot of pinteret trends get overdone.... BUT you are the. One who will live it the house with it and look at it most so go for it

I'd feel icky if someone got every single thing in the nursery and copied paint color/art/window coverings/etc. But I'm paid for my work and generally my clients don't want other people to have the exact same thing.
Being inspired is absolutely fine, outright copying borders on intellectual property.

I have copied only certain elements -- color (Mrs. Hide and Seek's nursery), crib (YHL), and bookshelf (pretty popular Hemnes from Ikea). I can't imagine copying a whole room though. I like to add my own special touches.
