If so, why would you consider moving to a smaller house/condo/apartment?

We're in a 2100 sq foot one floor apt. Our next place (dream/forever home) is 3000sq feet!
Can't imagine being in a small place with 2 wild kids

I would consider it if it were in my dream location. It would be a pretty hard transition though.

Smaller no, but better use of space Yes! We could do without the dining and living room.

I definitely would! It's not about square footage, it's about intelligent use of space. For me, the ideal residence would be ~900-1000sq ft, all one level except for maybe a loft area.

Price. We're already in a 2 bedroom 1000 sq ft so it'd need to be significantly cheaper to make it worth it. Especially since we are hoping to move somewhere bigger so we can have another baby!

yes. our apt is 1600? sq feet now, and i would move someplace a little smaller because we're moving for school district. but the place after our next place will hopefully be a forever place so i don't mind living somewhere small in the interim.

Nope. We are in 1600 sq feet now and it feels too small almost already

No way! We live in a 700 sq ft apartment right now and we are looking into a 2000 sq ft home!

We're in a 650 sq/ft apartment right now. The only way I'd think about moving is if the balcony footage could become part of a room. That would give us an additional 72 sq/ft of interior space.

Yes. I wouldn't mind a smaller house at all if it made financial sense to move. Our house is about 3200 sf and it's just too much space right now. We want 2 kids, and even then I think it's too much space. I think 2000-2500 would be perfect.

No, not until the kids are off to college. Then we'll move out of this crazy high property tax area.

No, our house is 1600sq ft, and while it's too big for the 2 of us, when LO comes it will be perfect! We plan on getting a bigger house when LO is about 10, and then downsizing to a small, manageable place when LO is out of the house. I told DH at that point I want a cheap, small house so I can spend my money on travel!

Noooo. We have 2,000 square feet and a finished basement and I still want more space. Bigger kitchen, main floor laundry, etc.

No. We have 1300 square feet now and there's no way we could downsize.

I guess if we had to, but I wouldn't be happy about it. I love all the space we have to stretch out in our 2,200 sq foot home!
