Is it tacky or no different from getting something on sale? Would you care if you got one?
I'm not sure if i would give one...unless it was for DH or a really close friend who wouldnt think it was weird. I dont think i would care if i got one though, especially if it was an interesting gift!

I guess it depends on what it's for, but probably not. I gave an ex-bf something on sale once (that was non-refundable AND damaged.. I didn't realize until afterward) and he gave me a long lecture about giving gifts and getting people things they wouldn't normally get themselves and blah blah. He's an ex for a reason but that did stick with me 
So i probably wouldn't.

@JoJoGirl: Fwiw, I think your ex was incredibly rude. Yes, it sucks that it was broken, but the ONLY acceptable response when someone gives you a gift is "thank you".
So, you aren't giving the Groupon code as a gift right? Cause that would be the only way I'd think it was strange. This is you bought a spa package as a gift (which happened to be a Groupon)? I don't see the problem in that. Not at all.

I would gift a groupon to certain friends and family. I know lots of people who would appreciate a good deal!

A pair of pleather winter gloves with a hole in one of the fingers I DID get out of the sale bin at a shitty-to-begin-with store. I had forgotten to get him a V-Day gift and picked it up on my way home from the subway So perhaps I took his lecture to heart because he was right, even if a lecture was a bit uncalled for!
Also yes I agree with Grace, if you buy the gift and give them the thing itself (spa package), I think that's great! It's more if you pay for the Groupon and give them the Groupon voucher or whatever, it gets a little odd.

I have before. I gave the whole piece of paper, and it was for a spa mani/pedi. They loved it!

I have, but for family people who I knew wouldn't care. Like I bought my sister a spa package for us to do together, so I was the one scheduling it and stuff, but she knew it was a groupon. I got my brother one of those mail order steak groupons last year, too. But I wouldn't for someone I wasn't really close to.

Oooooh, I got a set of Groupon coupons (or maybe it was Living Social...I don't remember) for a bunch of free large fries and McDonalds. It was the best present ever.

I have once, but it was for my parents who told me they wanted it. I guess it would depend on what it was if I gave it to others, though!

I totally would (and have). If you know me, you know I'm a lunatic bargain hunter. My brothers and parents are golfers, and there are always great Groupon deals for golfing. I've given rounds of golf/cart rental Groupons to all of them.

I have a friend that loves Groupon, and I actually got her a Groupon gift certificate for her birthday...she loved it and used it within days of me gifting it to her!
