A full month early to take advantage of summer weather?
DD1 will be 4 at the end of September.
We are debating having it at the end of August because we can have pools set up (or at my parents, they have an in ground pool). In addition, it's before she starts preschool - I am a bit worried she'll want to invite 30 more kids if we have it in September?! Ha!
Would you give someone the side eye for having their kid's party a month early (or late)?

Not at all. I wanted to do E's party a month late so we could have it at a park. More reliably warm weather in June than May. DH vetoed it because he wanted to go somewhere that would just do everything for us, but I wouldn't side-eye it at all.

I think it would have to be more than a month off for me to even notice. So I would definitely do it.

I'm thinking of doing this for M's bday too b/c her's is mid-Dec and I know calendars fill up so fast with holiday events. I may do a kids party in early Jan when life and schedules go back to normal.

I wouldn't side-eye it. I have H's parties two weeks early usually because the weather is much better at the end of September. We have a small house and having it outdoors is much more manageable than having a ton of people in my house.

I'm thinking about doing this too! Baby #2 is due 3 weeks before DD's birthday and I don't want to go into labor or miss her party.

for what its worth DD was invited to a kids 5 1/2 birthday - her bday was in December but they waited until now to do it -

An entire month early or late would get the side-eye if I knew the actual bday girl's bitthdate. Not everyone who attends will know, but when they find out at the party you may get puzzling faces. I totally get moving a date for better weather. In the end its NBD.

Sure! My bday is right after Christmas, so my parties were always later in the year. And my family has celebrated Thanksgiving a day or two late to accomodate people's travel plans. I'm very used to the idea of moving celebrations around to accomodate what works.

I don't think I'd really give it much thought. Unless you had two parties 
. I don't always know the exact date of the child's birthday anyways.

My parents did this for my 6th birthday. My birthday is in October and the party was at our community pool so it must have been late August or early September.
Also I was starting a new school that year (elementary vs preschool) so they avoided having to invite a whole new class of people. Although I hadn't that of that factor till you mentioned it.
