This happened yesterday, and it is still on my mind. I know I probably should just let it go (I have no other option at this point anyway) but I am curious what you would have done.

So, I was in line at our children's consignment store, and I overheard a conversation between the woman in front of me and the store manager. She was attempting to sell a used high chair to the store, and the manager informed her that since the high chair had been recalled, they were unable to take it.

The woman was older (50s maybe), most likely a grandmother who only used the high chair for a short time, and was visibly annoyed that they couldn't take it. She asked if the store could just take it and give it away. The manager told her that not only could they not take it, it was actually illegal for the woman to give it away because it poses a safety risk to a child who uses it. The manager told her that if she contacted the company and the company was able to offer a fix for the recall problem then she was welcome to bring it back and they could take it then.

Fast forward to when I left the store. The woman was standing outside the store flagging down parents with strollers, offering the high chair to them.

This made me upset on so many levels. I walked to my car, and then just stood there paralyzed, wanting to go back and warn the sweet man with his double stroller that this high chair that she was so "generously" offering was dangerous. But I didn't. I got in my car. Then considered going back and yelling at her for being so irresponsible as to endanger someone's precious baby. But I didn't do that either. I went home.

So my question is, what would you have done? Is it ever okay to be that bold (or rude?), especially when the potential safety of a child is involved?
