My parents travel to Playa del Carmen Mexico every November and are really putting the pressure on bringing DD this year when she is 14 months. I have already told them no because I feel it is a lot of stressful travel and she will be too young- yet they still ask.
Would you/ have you traveled internationally?

it's so funny, the hubs and i were just talking about this. we definitely plan on traveling internationally with our little guy. my mom and i were on the phone yesterday and she was telling me that they started hauling us on trips to the philippines once we were past the 3 month mark and they think it's one of the reasons we became such easy travelers. here's to hoping!

Yes, but we'll also be living internationally. We'll be moving to Kosovo (via Turkey and Albania) when LO is about 16 months, but I'd have no issues going sooner.
The original plan was to move this fall when Lo would be about 6 months and I was fine with that, but it got moved due to other circumstances.
We'll be living there 10-12 years, and during that time we'll be doing plenty of travel throughout Europe and the Middle East and Africa. It's our job, but I love it and I'm thrilled that we get to provide LO with so many learning experiences.
When we have LO #2 we'll probably go to either Johannesburg or Amsterdam for the birth, and then fly back to Kosovo 6-8 weeks later.

We'll definitely travel internationally with LOs. If your LO will be 14 months in Nov, she's around 6 months now, correct? Depending on your parents' activity level and expectations, it could be a really fun trip. Even if she doesn't remember it, you can show her pictures when she gets older.
Have you done any traveling with her already? Are you worried about the stress of traveling for you, or for you and LO?

We are going to Cuba in two weeks, and LO will be 10 months old. Yikes! I'm a little nervous, but we are going to make the most of it.
We've already done a few road trips and flights back home, so we now know what works. I think you have plenty of time to see what your LO's temperament is like, and how she deals with different environments. I think it will be so much fun at 14 months!

@caffeinated: Are you American? Is it hard to get visas to Cuba? I've always been interested in traveling there but I'm not sure what the restrictions are for Americans.

Yup! We traveled to Korea when she was 9 months old. We also took her cross country and this spring, when she's around 15 months old, we'll be taking her on a cruise.

@Arden: Nope, Canadian. But from what i read, there are ways around it if you are American, and it's not as hard as it used to be. You don't need a visa to get in, just a passport. I know they don't accept US money there, nor do they accept US credit or debit cards!
@MungBean: I'm pretty excited, but mainly because i need to spend some time in a city where the temperature isn't in the negatives. Apparently out of all the Latin American countries, Cuba has the best medical facilities, which was a factor in deciding where to go!

YES!! My husband is in the military, so we lived in England when our twins were born. They did their first flight at 3 months old, but we traveled everywhere with them! Its a little more difficult to travel with a LO but dont let that stop you from going. We always had a great time!

We live in Mexico so yes we have traveled to the US many times starting when our son was 5 months an then when our girl was just two months. Once you have the necessary paperwork it's no big deal!

Absolutely! DD is seven months old and has already circumnavigated the globe; we started in Australia, flew to the UK, then on to the States, and then back to Australia. We're planning a trip to Malaysia in the next few months (Borneo to be exact), a long weekend in Indonesia (Bali) and possibly a trip to Thailand (Phuket) at Christmas if we can swing it. We plan on showing her as much of the world as we can. She has the choice of three passports (Australian, American, or British) due to the nationalities of DH and I, so we're hoping she takes advantage of that to live in different countries when she's older.

We live overseas amd C has already been on international flights twice and will be several more times in the next couple years. Her first flight was at 8 months old.

If my child is going to see most of my family, we have to leave the U.S. We're hoping to take (s)he to visit my family in the Caribbean later this year.

@Arden: Not to but in, but there are tour companies that specialize in travel to Cuba for Americans. Also it's possible if you go on a cultural, academic, or charitable sponsored trip. You could also just wing it by flying from Canada, Jamaica, or Mexico (pretty much somewhere else in the region). The folks at immigration will not stamp your passport. I did pay for some things in U.S. dollars while there (there is a major gray market where things are bought and sold in U.S. dollars). I went legally for an academic conference in grad school. I wished I could have seen more of the country.

Yup several times starting when LO was 3 months. We even did a transatlantic flight when he was a year old which was tougher but still worth it. I would totally take your kiddo to the beach at that age- it should be really fun.

We live in Beijing, so yes, we will and have traveled internationally with LO. She's a year old now and has been back and forth between China and Japan a couple of times already. She's also flown from tokyo to Hawaii when she was 4 months old. I will say it was a lot easier when she was younger because she would sleep the whole flight. Now, we have to work hard to keep her entertained.

We don't have LOs yet, but we will definitely be traveling internationally with them once they arrive. DH is from Ecuador, so in order for them to know his side of the family we will have to travel to South America, probably every 3 years or so.

We will be! Venice in March with J who will be 5 months old at the time, then Ireland and London for a family wedding when J is 10 months old. We love to travel, and don't want it to start to feel too daunting to bring J along, so we figured we'd plunge in.

Yes, I definitely plan on traveling internationally with LO. Neither DH nor I have ever been out of the country, and I'm absolutely dying to go anywhere! I'm hoping that before LO turns 2 we can manage a trip to England.

No LOs yet but we plan to travel internationally with our future babies. My dad lives in England and we wouldn't get many opportunities to see him if we don't go out there once in a while.

We were just talking about this this morning. We definitely will travel internationally with LO, but I'm not sure when we will start-- more because we won't have any specific reason to, so we'll probably wait until he/she is old enough to enjoy it a little. We were debating at what age kids start to have vague memories of being somewhere cool 
That said, I'd definitely do a resort type vacation to the Caribbean or Mexico any time after a year or so. Our typical vacation style is a little more active, which is why we'd wait on that, but I think a beach vacation with a baby would be great. I'm not clear from the original post whether your mom wants to bring the baby AND you or just the baby and you stay home?

We traveled to Europe right after LO turned a year for several weeks. DH family lives over there so we did have a house to stay in but we also did some traveling on our own while we were there. It was easier than I expected but there were some stressful points. I'd def do it over again though.
