I think if they were truly talented, maybe... when they were 13 or 14? 12 seems so young!
I hope I won't be one of those deluded parents who thinks their kids are sooo talented (when they're not). But I have a musical background (12 yrs of violin lessons + 8 yrs of voice lessons), so I'd like to THINK I have a discerning ear!!

I don't think so. I think 12 is too young. I would say probably 14-15 would be okay though.
