I wouldn't because I am sure it will be a classic, beautiful name.

Nope, C's name is traditionally English and has been the name of many Queens and Princesses. I wouldn't be surprised or annoyed.
I dont think it will happen though. I still think they're having a girl and theyre going to name her Alexandra.

We love the names we picked out, and one of the reasons we like them is because they aren't too common. I wouldn't mind if the royal baby had the same name, but I would worry in the back of my mind that other people would use it and make it more popular.
I wouldn't mind if people commented, "Oh what a nice name, just like the Royal baby."
I do think they will pick a name that is so classic/common, that it wouldn't necessarily happen.

Yes, only because LO isn't born yet, this is our first baby and our last name is so impossible lol! We've been so good about not telling anyone our name so far and I would just be so upset if they picked it.

Only if they broke tradition and went with an unique name. Then, the name would become synonymous with the Royal. Classic names are timeless and up for grabs for anyone.

It wouldn't bother me because I tended towards classic, timeless girl names (Eleanor and Grace Catherine were both on our short list) (I'm also assuming she's having a girl
DS's name isn't quite as classic (although his mn is Charles) so I'd be shocked if they chose it for a boy, but I can't imagine it would upset me at all.
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
It wouldn't bother me, necessarily. It would a little because our LOs will be roughly the same age and even though my Madeline came first, people won't know that and could assume we named her after the royal baby? Kwim?

Funny, a girl at work is pregnant with a girl and one of the names on her list is Charlotte but she said they won't use it if the royal baby has that name because she doesnt' want people to assume she named it after that baby!

A little only because I think it will SERIOUSLY increase the popularity of the name. But I doubt it will happen.

There is a high likelihood that if the royal baby is a girl, she will share a name from our family. I'm ok with that.

It wouldn't bother me.
I really don't get what the big deal is? People name their children the same name all the time.
pomelo / 5524 posts
Only if I had chosen the name before my LO was born. Since he's been here for almost 10 months, I'm ok with it being the same. Plus...it's a pretty classic name...so it would be hard to be mad if they chose it now!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Since I'm due a month after the royal baby will be born, it would be annoying because it would look like I copied them. But it'll be a non-issue. The names we've picked aren't traditional enough for a royal baby.
persimmon / 1396 posts
The royal baby won't have our LO's name, because she already shares it with the Duchess. I think they will choose a beautiful timeless name.
pomelo / 5820 posts
Wouldn't mind at all, but I'd doubt they'd choose his name... not traditional enough.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
Yes, but only because I am due in a few weeks and I wouldn't want people to think I "copied" her! But it is highly unlikely that she'll use our name anyways.
persimmon / 1420 posts
I'm with @highwire, I hope it happens! We've got some pretty classic names over here, names of previous royalty, in fact, so it is a little bit more likely than if they were named... oh, Blue Ivy or something.

my MIL would be super excited. but i sincerely doubt it will happen since R's name is Irish.
nectarine / 2797 posts
Nope, wouldn't mind and actually would think it was kind of neat. I've read it's actually one of those that is getting some betting action (Eleanor) so it's not impossible.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
It would bother me only because I'm not due for 2 months and you'd constantly get asked/people would assume you named your babe after it.
If my babe was here it wouldn't bother me at all.

I'd be a little annoyed because DS isn't due until November and it was extremely difficult picking out his name. I'd hate for it to became as popular as Jacob or Mason and feel like it looks like we followed a trend. But I doubt I have to worry much about the royal couple choosing Declan for the their son :D.

You mean MY name or LOs?
My name - it literally means Princess, so no.
And Los name is already a Prince (duke of York) so again, no.

Hey Kate & Will- I'm totally cool with you guys using Cameron, go for it!
pomegranate / 3890 posts
Yes BC it would get super popular and everyone would assume that we named p after the royal baby, even though he was.born a year before
