How close (or not close) would a friend have to be for you to eliminate or consider their child's name for your lo?
One of my closest friends begged me not to name Charlie Charlie because she knows two Charlies she hates! But I'm not close to them at all so it wasn't a factor...

It would have the be a friend that I see regularly (maybe a twice a month?) Otherwise I don't see an issue with my child having the same name as a friend's. No matter what I name my kid they won't be the only person in the world with that name.

I don't want to eliminate any names unless a close family member is using it for their LO!

No, my friend named her son our boy name so I will have to find another name if we ever have a boy.

I would be very hesitant to use a name a friend used. But, most of the friends I keep are close/longtime/family friends. If it was someone like a co-worker or acquaintance, I'd see no problem with it.
It's interesting that so many PP would consider it if they don't see their friends often. I don't see a lot of my closest friends on a regular basis (not even once a month), so I still wouldn't use any names they'd pick!
There are some perks to being the first one to get married and pregnant. First dibs on everything, haha!

I think it would have to be a very close friend or family member for us to not use it. I don't think it's as much about how frequently we see them as it is about the kind of relationship we have. I wouldn't use a best friend or sibling's child's name.

If it was my best friend or sister, no I wouldn't use the same name. However I have 2 friends that chose the same girl name that we are considering & I am fine using it if we choose to!

DH and I discussed this with LO because one of the girl names I really liked was used by a somewhat close friend (see them weekly and hung out occasionally). I refused to use the same name as their daughter because 1) I didn't want them to think we named our LO after their child and 2) I didn't want our LO to respond when they called their child (which was frequently "name don't do this or that").
