The beauty school near my house started doing massage about 2 months ago, and it's only $25 for a full hour. I've had student massages before and they're normally pretty good. I can't decide if I want to risk a prenatal massage though. I'm assuming that they would assign me a student who's been taught prenatal techniques if I told them I was pregnant.

i don't think it's a risk if it's specifically for prenatal and they have been trained in it!

My doula is an RMT in training and they do amazing work. I don't think it's a risk at all.

If someone is a student with specific prenatal training, yes I'd do it.
Not that I'm an expert, but I listened to a podcast about prenatal massages and the risks of an untrained person massaging you are relatively significant. There are places on your body that should not be rubbed when you are pregnant like pressure points that can induce labor, but there are also areas on your legs that are more prone to clots during pregnancy. Having an untrained person rub those and release them into the rest of your body can be very dangerous. A person trained in prenatal massages knows not to rub certain areas on your legs because of that. Someone who is untrained does not know....

I went to massage school, and i would totally go get a prenatal massage there. Students are very aware of the medical aspects of massage during pregnancy.
