If it was incredible quality, super soft and warm, and you planned on it lasting them a LONG time?

Nope. The ones we have are just fine. And she loves the one I crocheted for her

I don't think I would! Definitely not with our budget right now... I may have considered it if we had a lot of extra spending money.

I voted yes b/c there is one I really want to get her $52 plus S&H but I am still waiting for a better deal. I plan on getting it for LO for Xmas.

I wouldn't, but it's probably becaus he has so many and if I wanted anything specific I'm sure someone could make it.
But, I'm curious what yours looks like @Rainbow Sprinkles

This is the blanket I want to get @Boogs: !!!
It's the softest thing in the whole wide world.....
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Nice! I probably wouldn't because it's not super big and I probably couldn't see my LO using on long term, like 10 years down the road. But, if you love it and it's in your budget I say you get it.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: My 2 year old godson loves his luxe blanket! It's super soft!!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: 30" x 36" so not tiny, but can't really cover a bed with it I think.
grapefruit / 4136 posts
While I think it's a gorgeous blanket, heck no I'm way too cheap!!
coconut / 8430 posts
No. I desperately wanted a Little Giraffe blanket but I couldn't spend the $50+ on it during the Anniversary Sale.
@Rainbow Sprinkles: It really is the softest thing ever though.

I spent $50 on a Dwell Studio stroller blanket as a FTM, so I think $57 is not too, too bad. But I have gotten more frugal over the years! On the other hand, I know now that my 2nd DD loooves "blankies", even at 2 yo, so maybe I'd get it for her for a special occasion...
Btw, I heard that's an awesome blanket. I know a mom who used that blanket as her go-to baby shower gift for close friends, so I always remembered that it must be a really nice blanket to have.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: we have that one! E sleeps with it every night. I picked it up for her baptism and the cashier didn't tell me the total so I had no idea. I paid full price ! Normally, I wouldn't.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: get it!! Umm.... I still have my baby blanket. So who's to say it won't be used for, like, 30+ years? (I'm lame, I know.)
grapefruit / 4056 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Someone bought S one of those, it is nice and all, but had NOT worn well at all. Honestly, he loves it, but it looks like crap now and I fantasize about "losing" it all the time. I wouldn't have bought it myself and kind of hate that he has become attached to it for night time.

Yeah. I think before having LO, I would not think I would. But now, I would spend more on her than myself a lot of times. And she loves soft blankets, so I would think it's worth it.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Yeah.... That $57 white blanket is going to get covered in vomit and got knows what else. I'd nope myself right out of that one.

I don't know if this is helpful, but dh and I have had this throw blanket for years (actually, we have 2 because we would fight over it ) that looks kind of similar, and would last--or at least, it has lasted for our adult usage! I'd imagine it's much thicker and heavier than the one you're looking at since it isn't meant for a child, so maybe no good--a kid couldn't carry it around by themselves, but they'd prob enjoy sitting on it? but it's so soft! And on sale for $39...

@shopaholic: I totally feel the same way. Before LO, I would have said that is crazy. Now, I spend more on him than I do on myself.
The AA dream blankets are $49 in most places and I bought one for both DS and baby2 (which will obviously be used much later for her). We've had DS's dream blanket for over two years now and it is so soft and in excellent condition.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: We were gifted this and O sleeps with it every night!! He is 10.5 months and on the smaller/short side and it covers him, but won't for very long. Although we LOVE the blanket, it's seriously the softest thing ever and is still in perfect condition, I'd maybe look for something a bit bigger that could grow with your LO. We love love love this blanket though!! Especially during the cold New England winters.

Sure, why not. I don't think $50 is bad. I would think twice if it was over $150.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
I would try to make it. That look/feels similar to the rose minky fabric Joann's sells (or even getting a super soft larger throw) and then get some satin to back it and make the binding.
I would buy an A&A dream blanket, which start at $50, but I couldn't just go pick up the materials at a local store either.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I have almost the same exact blanket for W, but it's about $20 cheaper... And has a sheep head on it. Super duper soft. She couldn't care less about it, but I love to snuggle with it

I have that blanket, it was a gift. He takes it to daycare because it's long enough for his cot.
It is super soft, I do have to say that.

Nope. But I'd tell both grandmothers he wanted it and see what happened
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
No way! Target sells a similar blanket and it's much, much bigger. Super warm and soft too! Let me see if I can find it for you!
@cmomma17: hahaha! I would totally do the same thing.

Yes, I would! I plan on getting my son an A&A bamboo dream blanket, those run about $60...
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
It's light weight, but still pretty darn warm! They're currently $15, but I think they're going on sale during Black Friday.
This one looks warm and cozy also.

Probably not, I could find something similar for a cheaper price.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
No way. I would try to win one but would never buy one myself. She has a thousand blankets, anyways and doesn't even use any of them yet.
grapefruit / 4442 posts
I bought DD an A+A dream blanket and I felt it was worth every penny she sleeps with it every night.
coconut / 8861 posts
Yep, we paid $50 for LO's A&A's dream blanket. He loves it. For us, it's definitely worth it as a toddler blanket.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
I wouldn't buy one, but I wouldn't turn one down if someone gifted us... hahaha. I can think of so many other things to spend $50+ on for LO.
eggplant / 11824 posts
I've spent more than $50 on one of E's blankets, but it's big enough to use on a twin sized bed so she will use it for years to come. We use it every night now and I love it, so it's worth it to me. $50 isn't an outrageous sum of money for an item you'll use. I've definitely thrown down more $$ on stuff we didn't use!
nectarine / 2274 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Yes, I would. I actually have 2 of those blanket from Nordstroms. They are E's loveys, he can't sleep without them. When he's cranky, they comfort him. We take them on long drives with us. To us, they're worth every penny.
