...a baby shower or a 1 yr old's birthday? We've gotten invites to both (in the same weekend, one on a saturday, one on a sunday). One is for the wife of a good friend of my husbands, the other is for my cousin's baby.
Our son will be 1 month old exactly and I am a bit worried of taking him somewhere that will have a lot of young kids and/or a lot of adults who may ask to hold him...
Is 1 month old enough for these types of outings or should I politely decline?

I would too. My own baby shower is scheduled for about a month after my due date and I know everyone is going to want to hold the guest of honour!

Yes I'd go. Just ask people to wash hands if you are worried about germs.

I would! LO had her first play date at 3 weeks and they did tummy time together!

Baby shower yes! Birthday party no! Too many germs from LOs at the birthday party for me.

I took LO to a 1 yr old's birthday at 4 weeks with no problems. Because the events are the same weekend i might just pick one. I was more overwhelmed at that time by feeling over scheduled than I was by the individual outings.

Its probably fine but for me I didn't! Its Chinese tradition for mama and baby to not go out for a month after giving birth. Plus, DD was a winter baby so I was paranoid about exposing her to sickies during flu season. I probably didnt feel comfortable taking her to a party until she was 3 months old.

Yes to both, only I would wear LO so no germs get on them. I took R to a 2 year old bday party at 4 or 5 weeks. I wore her in the Ktan the whole time.

I wouldn't not because I was afraid of germs but because based on my experience with DD, at 1 month I wasn't ready to go anywhere entirely social.

I took LO to a family get together at 1 month old. Our pedi said it was fine for her to be out like that but to use good judgement about people holding her. I just made sure that anyone who held her had washed their hands, that she didn't leave my sight, and I absolutely took her back or declined letting someone hold her if I felt like it.

I'm one that wouldn't. I just think kids bring germs and unless I'd be wearing the baby/no one would hold him I would politely decline.

I took my baby to a wedding when he was 10 days old so...
It's summer. And you don't have to let anyone hold LO- at the wedding, I kept him in the K'Tan. My friend recently had her LO wrapped up in the Moby and told everyone, "Oh, I would let you hold her but its such a pain to wrap and unwrap her," and people were ok with that.

I took my son to my nephew's birthday when he was 1 week. I just was very picky about who held him. When they're so little I think maybe it's easier, because random people know they're so fragile.

I took my one month old to a baby shower. No one really asked to hold him other than family (it was my SILs shower)

I'd decline. There's a bad stomach bug going around right now and I just don't wanna risk it. Plus, when she was a month old, the getting ready to go part was longer than actually enjoying ourselves anywhere.

Shower - maybe. Birthday party - no. I was just too stressed at one month old to have my LO around a ton of kids or worry about people holding him.

I'd do it, too, and also wear LO to avoid anyone wanted to hold baby.

i would if you are feeling good, but if not don't worry about it and rest up! 
or just go for an hour or so

I would go to the baby shower but probably not to the birthday party, but would definitely have LO in a Moby!

Yep, absolutely. I took my LO everywhere....we went to a huge bbq 9 days after she was born!
