I'm watching Party Mamas and I can't believe how much money some people have. This one mother is throwing her daughter a 13th birthday party worth over $100,000. She's riding in on an elephant, dying the ponds blue so they are more 'disney-esque", and flying in monkeys from some zoo. The daughter is throwing a fit demanding that Lil Wayne play at her party. If he doesn't show up she's going to "fire her mom".
As much as I would say I would raise my child not to act like the brats on this show I think it would be really hard when you're surrounded by so much wealth! I think it's important for kids to learn that everything doesn't come easily, either.
I'd like enough money to be able to travel often but not so much that I start dropping 100K on birthday parties. How about you?
I'd love for DH and I to make a combined 6-figure salary (we live in Texas, where that can go far), but really, that's it. I want to have enough to be out of student loan debt and be able to take 1-2 big trips a year, but really, that's it! My parents had a lot of money (not obscene, but enough to put them in the top 1%) and it really didn't make them happy. They still didn't save enough for their kids' college or retirement, and we never took a trip out of the country!
