OK, so here's the scenario:

2 weeks ago, LO got a bad case of coxsackie. she was sick with a very high fever for an entire week, and had extremely painful sores that also lasted a full week. The day her fever broke (last thursday), DH got it, and he literally hadn't left the couch in over a week until yesterday. His fever finally went under 100 yesterday, but the sores in his mouth are not completely healed yet. He's been SO sick, but he's turned a corner for sure. I'd say he's almost entirely better today except for the sores.

Tomorrow, we have a shower where there are expected to be a 1.5 year old, a 2.5 year old and possibly one or two other children as well. He caught this over a week ago, so probably still wouldn't be contagious, but we're concerned it might be possible to spread this until the sores are gone since it took him so long to catch it from LO.

SO, long story short. Should he go or stay home? Suffice to say that after these past 2 weeks, I don't wish this on my worst enemy, and I'm simply not sure if we can live with ourselves if he gets these little girls sick! On the other hand, are we being overly cautious since he's better now? Obviously he's not going to share drinks with anyone!

ETA: I think it's actually pretty rare for adults to catch this, so we'd be more concerned about the kids than the other adults there. I've been exposed very closely to it for weeks now, obviously, and i believe most adults are immune.
