Has anyone used an Internet kit for their will? We want to write one before LO comes, but it should be pretty simple, so we're wondering if a kit would work fine. Advice?
If you went to a lawyer, how much did it cost?

We used a lawyer. For a will (that also establishes a trust for our child(ren) when we pass, a living will, power of attorney and healthy care proxy it was $1,000

Like @MamaMoose, I'd recommend going to an attorney for something like what she did. If LO is due very soon though, you can easily put together a "temporary" will until you can meet with an attorney.

We went to a lawyer and got a guardianship will as well as power of attorney. We got lucky and it was my moms friend so she did it as a favor. I think it was supposed to be a couple hundred though. I think a kit would be fine, but I'm paranoid so wanted a a lawyer to write it up for us.

In my city in Ontario wills and POAs run $300-$400. I would recommend getting it prepared by a lawyer.
Also note that in Ontario guardianship is only temporary (90 days). The intended guardian can then bring a court application asking that he/she be appointed the permanent guardian. If that does not occur the choice of guardian is left up to the courts.

My recommendation would be to go through an attorney . . . there may be options (like a trust, living trust, etc.) that you may not be aware of and/or fully understand what is required to achieve the goals you have in mind (every State has different requirements).
