A friend purchased the foam floor mat from our registry before our baby shower from Amazon. He didn't recieve it before the shower and has been telling me he has it and needs to come visit. If it hasn't been purchased I would have bought it myself because we really need a soft surface since our house is all hardwood. K is almost 2 months and because of his crazy work schedule and moving, he hasn't come visit yet. He said he would a couple weekends ago, but I've learned not to hold people to that anymore. He lives at least an hour and a half away. I really need the mat nowadays to have somewhere soft to put baby down in the living room. WWYD? Should I ask him to mail it? Offer to pay? Buy a cheap rug in the meantime?
DH says I should just text him and ask when he's going to visit? But I also think it could be easily forgotten to bring it with him if I don't mention it? I just don't want to come off as greedy or gift-grabby?

Maybe you should just buy one...and then return his when he brings it? Save your receipt if you guys get the same exact item.

I would just shoot a text and say "K's getting big enough to where I want to put her down to play...If you'll be coming by soon or plan to mail the floor mat you were so nice to get her, can you let me know? Otherwise I need to buy something else to have on hand bc baby girl is getting wild and needs a place to sprawl out and play!"

Would you have a use for two mats? If it were me, I would try to buy the same one you registered for and then return the one he gives you. If he doesn't give you a receipt with the gift, you could use your receipt.

It's weird that he didnt just mail it. Like, babies grow out of stuff!! Get it to them ASAP if you want them to use it!

@PrincessBaby: I agree with this-- since he mentioned it already a few times, I think you can totally text him asking where it is, saying baby needs it now. it' not gift grabby if he already got it for you, you know?

I would buy a mat and if ever you get his either use it another part of your house or donate it.

I think I will just order it now then and maybe text him about visiting and how K's trying to roll over already. Maybe I'll keep both or return his when I get it.
@PrincessBaby: yeah, a lot of friends w/out kids just don't seem to realize how much time is passing! I've had to tell them like "hello! She's almost 2 months and you my close friend haven't even come to meet her yet!" I just had 2 friends visit for the first time yesterday night after a couple of weeks of guilting them! They just don't realize how much a baby grows and changes in a week or two!
