We're going to Atlanta for a long weekend in June. Originally DH was going to go alone but MIL gave us a companion fare so we got a discounted second seat. I consulted my frenemy Google about airline guidelines for traveling with kids under 2 (regarding passport/birth certificate) and read the FAA's suggestions on buying a seat for your child under 2 and some other stories about turbulence and injuries and of course now I'm scared.

A few things to know about me: I HATE flying. I usually ingest booze before flights, Xanax and sleeping pills don't seem to work for me, and the only other thing that helps a little is meditation. I have major anxiety on planes. DH will sleep the whole time.

He thinks I'm crazy for wanting to buy another seat when we're supposed to be saving money (I'm currently unemployed) and because he wants to take advantage of the under 2 for free.

I checked the airline and there are still seats available on both flights and it would be about $300 to add her (I have the money, but yes I could save it). Whether or not I buy her a seat or not I will still be an internal basket case when we fly, but I might be a little at ease having the entire row to ourselves and having her strapped into her own seat.
