I found a used baby jogger city select double for $400 on Craigslist ( it comes with both seats)... It is 5 years old... Does that price sound reasonable?
Edited to add: for brand new it is going for about $500

How much are they new? I thought they were only that much new. I know as a reference you can get the b-ready, for like 400 new

Not sure about the price, but I would buy a used stroller especially if I could get new wheels from the manufacturer if they worn out.

In general I would buy a used stroller, but I just got the city select with the second seat on amazon for $500 and you can get the single for ~$450, so I would probably go for the new one or try to talk the price down with the craigslist seller. Not sure if the one you're looking has the second seat or not.

You could get a brand new one at Buy Buy Baby for $400 if you used a 20% off coupon and they are $450 on Amazon.... So no. That's really high for a 5 year old stroller.
I know that Baby Jogger had an issue with their hinges a couple years ago also. They had to replace the whole frame of my 2012 model City Mini because of a manufacturing defect with the hinges.

that is way too much for a 5 year old stroller. and i definitely would (and have) bought used strollers.

@loveisstrange: I wasn't sure if the 20% coupon would apply because I thought the fine print said baby jogger is excluded?

@butterbean: Maybe they changed it but we used one when we bought our City Mini. Saved $50! To be fair, that was almost 2 years ago.

I would buy used, but not if it were more than 50ish % of what the new price would be.

I would buy it but not at that price! At maximum, I would pay half of the new price.

Not enough of a discount off new price for 5 years old, I would say 300 would be way more reasonable and only if in perfect condition. Like others said you can get new for about that price!

Offer them 150-200. 400 is not something I'd consider, wait for a sale on the new one if that's the price you're looking to spend.

@butterbean: You could get a new single one here for $390, even less if you're OK with the amethyst color:

@butterbean: if you're still in the market, pishposhbaby.com has city select doubles for $399 until tomorrow morning.

Terrible deal! I know, everyone has already said that. But really, think about it like this....after making that much money back from selling it, it's like they only paid $100 for it and you paid $400. Yet they had the stroller brand new and you got it with 5 years of use. Total rip off. I won't buy anything with that much use unless it's at least half off.

That sounds really expensive for a 5 year old stroller! Only $100 dollars cheaper for 5 years or wear and tear? I think $150 -175 would be a more reasonable price. I would buy new if thats the case.

@butterbean: I am pretty sure it is excluded too I just checked into it a few days ago because thats the one we want too.
