We currently have our house up for sale and we're in the early stages of negotiating a possible sale right now.

Our main floor is all hardwood and the hardwood has some wear and tear to it, nothing major and nothing that I haven't seen in other homes that are the same age as ours.

The potential buyers however don't agree with that and want us to completely replace the floors and they want to be able to pick the flooring and the contractor.

We have looked into refinishing the floors and we have been quoted approx. $1,800. So we have offered the potential buyers either $2,000 off the purchase price, or we will pay for refinishing after we move out. Our reasoning for after is because we don't want to run the risk of scratching the floors and then dealing with this all over again.

Buyers are standing firm that they want brand new floors and they want to pick everything. They want us to pay for it, and have it done before they take possession.

The house has been up for sale for 3 days so far so we're tempted to just say take our offer or leave it.
