LO2 is 9.5 months and we secured a full-time daycare spot for him. I don't go back to work until November, so i have about 2 months to transition him over.
He is currently on 2 naps - 1st at around 9-9:30am, the 2nd could begin anywhere between 12:30 or 1:30. There is one main official nap time from 11:45am to 2:30pm. There aren't a lot of kids who have two naps (most are 12+ mos) and i have seen how the younger babies do their morning naps - the conditions aren't very conducive to napping!
After about 2 weeks of visits, i'm now starting to leave him for a couple of hours at a time (he is okay when i drop him off but cries nonstop after 45 minutes). We live a 5 min walk away. I'm struggling between 2 transition plans and i need some feedback!
Option 1: Bring him after his first nap. This means he would miss out on any program activities and at best do a bit of play time, eat lunch and then attempt a nap when the main room naps. If he doesn't nap, i would just pick him up and have him get his second nap at home.
Option 2: Bring him in the morning after breakfast. He would join the kids for morning snack, regular activities, and they would attempt to get him to have a morning nap. If that fails, he'll have lunch and he will possibly be so tired that he will actually sleep when the other kids sleep. I would pick him up as soon as he wakes up. If he had a short nap, i would try to get him to have his second nap at home.
At first i thought option 1 was best because he had days where he would wake up at 5:30-6am, but i'm now wondering if i should just try out option 2. I'm just stressed because his night sleep sucks on days where he gets no sleep, so i'm also thinking about my sanity!
