First I would bitch up a storm to day care. There are so many parents that split duty like this.

Then I would buy one convertible for the car you don't use as much on the weekend. If you take your car when you all go out together as a family, then get the convertible for your DH. Then you can still use the infant seat, carrying him in some place sleeping, etc

oh man, that sucks! Both of the daycares I've been to have storage space for the infant room car seats, because most parents switch drop off and pick up!

I guess I would get a convertible to save money, but I would NOT be happy about it. Unless I had a trusted friend who had a similar infant car seat that I knew hadn't been in any wrecks, but the odds of that are low.

i voted to upgrade to convertibles. could your husband drop him off in the convertible, and you could pick up in the infant car seat so that you have transfer-to-house-while-sleeping ability?

Why do you have to upgrade both to convertibles? I would definitely not buy a new infant seat. I would buy a convertible for your car and keep him in the infant seat in your DH's (or vice versa). Just carry him in from the car instead of bringing the infant seat in with you (or bring the infant seat in but don't leave it there).

Do you have any friends who have an infant car seat they aren't using right now? I would offer you ours but it's at dh's grandmas house on the cape! Even if it wasn't the same brand as yours I'd rather do that for now.

@Adira: you are pumping like 10 times a day, he can suck it up and have his seat moved up.

Or move Xander to FF and behind the driver seat.

I'd just get the convertible since we're headed that way anyway...

Buy a convertible for one car right now. I had to transfer my sleeping baby a lot from the infant seat to our double stroller. (We didn't use an adapter)
