D has had a diaper rash for the past couple of days that has been pretty stubborn. It's finally starting to look a LITTLE bit better after I bought some maximum strength Boudreaux Butt Paste, but still looks pretty awful. It is red with raised bumps, mostly in his crack, but there's actually a spot off to the side that is raised with white spots. I'm starting to think this might be a yeast rash. I am going to call the ped today (and have pictures that I can send them if needed), but thought I'd check with my fellow HB mamas. Does this sound like a yeast rash? What should I be using to help clear it up?

It does sound like it could be a yeast infection. We got a prescription cream from the pediatrician when Xander had it. It worked like a charm! Hopefully your ped will prescribe something (or give you a suggestion).

Equal parts lotrimin and zinc oxide with maalox to thin it out should clear it up quickly!

Yes sounds like yeast. The pediartician can prescribe nystatin cream.

Yes sounds like yeast - our ped has us use Lotrimin and it cleared up really fast!

Lotrimin will clear it up fast. Don't use triple paste it makes it worse.

Our ped had us use Lotrimin (from the jock itch / athletes foot aisle) when we suspected yeast.

Yup, Lotrimin AF works just as fast as the prescription stuff.

Echoing what others have said--Lotrimin with diaper cream (we used Desitin and Boudreaux) on top. Ours was stubborn, too, and we had to use that combo for a little over a week.

M had this pretty bad when she was around 5 months. We tried everything but the nystatin finally did the trick.

Lotrimin and triple paste did it for us (I think the ointment is called clotrimazole but you can buy lotrimin OTC). Butt Paste NEVER worked for us-- always made rashes worse.

@littlebug: DD1 got yeast infections all the time. Our pedi had us get Lotramin (athletes foot cream) and put it on 4x a day and cover it with a thick diaper cream. It would start to clear up in 24 hours (but he said to continue with it for 7 days).
