When was the last time someone said this to you?
My MIL said this to DH yesterday when he was applying sunscreen on LO before they went outside!

I think I am lucky, no one has told me this yet. They might be thinking it but haven't verbalized it.

Your in law stories are crazy. Sunscreen is spoiling her? Loco.

@autumnlove: haha, good to know that protecting LO from the harmful rays of the sun will spoil her! Your MIL says the funniest things.

My gran a few days ago when I picked A up from her Ergo and started kissing her cheek, lol.

Hahahaha that is amazing. Next she'll say, "Oh, you don't need to feed her -- you'll spoil her!"

@Pepper: HAHA I was just coming to comment that same thing!!
my mom said LO was spoiled the other day, I forget what was happening. I think I said she was crying whenever I left her sight and my mom said it's cause she's spoiled. I think she was partly kidding, though - they always tease me about "spoiling" her cause I don't do CIO!

@autumnlove: I'm going to go against the grain here and say your MIL has a point. Children really won't learn about outdoor safety until they get a sunburn (at least 2nd degree) on their tender skin. You should have slathered her in motor oil and sent her on her way. What kind of mother ARE you? Next thing you know you will be CHILD PROOFING. You monster.

@autumnlove: I get this ALL the time from MIL. Usually about what I'm feeding him, what I've dressed him in.. she's nuts.

That's a new one! I've never heard of spoiling by applying sunscreen, haha
Everyone said I was spoiling her for letting her sleep on me as a newborn. Crazies, she isn't learning habits yet!

@autumnlove: I havent heard this since the newborn stage and it really infuriated me!

@Andrea: We just laughed and ignored her! She thinks sunscreen is only for swimming. Sigh...

My MIL said this to my yesterday... Not because of sunscreen, but because he spit up and I changed his outfit (it was soaking wet) so I was spoiling him (really... He has a lil rash on his chest, I do t want it to get worse) urg... She just rubs me the wrong way!

Please, stop spoiling your child by protecting them. All this safety stuff is ridiculous. The only way an infant will learn is by getting a painful, dangerous sunburn! (WTF, for real?)
