I disagree with that sentiment. While i don't think it's one or the other, i think you still end up making a lot of sacrifices and you're never the mom, person or career-person you WANT to be. I just don't think it's possible to have both at the same time.
Am i wrong in this? What are your thoughts?
(ETA: Sorry, this is not to insult those who do feel as if they have it all. I guess i should've written i dislike this statement, as it recently came from a friend (who has a strong support network who i felt was discouraging me from becoming a SAHM.)
I wasn't the awesome employee I used to be b/c I was so frickin' tired all the time and worried about LO. I felt like a crappy mom b/c I was so tired when I got home that all I wanted to do was lie on the couch. That's when she was really young (like 4 months old) so I can only imagine how much harder it would have been if she was older. So to answer your question - no, I don't think *I* could have had it all.
