I just got this in my email:

Your 14 month old, week 3:
"Ball," "dog," and "bye" may be your child's favorite – and only – words, though some early talkers have as many as 20 words in their vocabulary. Your child may use words at the right time for the right things, or she may say "dog" whenever she sees a furry animal with a tail. Don't be discouraged – that's an indication that she's learning to understand concepts and group things together. Just say the correct word in a matter-of-fact tone ("That's a horse, honey. Horses are bigger than dogs."), and she'll soon pick it up.

Uhhh...right. My child has one word - "uh oh" at this age and this article makes it sound like she should have more than that. I'm not down with comparing milestones at this age. Kids learn and do things at such different times, it bugs me that they're making it sound like your child "should" have words by now.

Do you worry about milestones after getting these emails from babycenter? Are you good at letting it go? Did you get annoyed enough to cancel these emails like I'm considering doing?
