I'd love to find some new products to keep my bathroom clean. I strolled around Target yesterday but didn't see much.
What are your favorite non-toxic cleaners, especially for toilets and tub/shower?

@catlady: the bathroom is the one room I can't stay away with bleach and Lysol wipes! It's so gross!

Method toilet bowl cleaner I use as in between scrubbings because it really helps with our hard water ring.

my favorite thing for the bathroom is vinegar+dawn.
so great on the tub to remove scum, I am not scared of washing my tub anymore. I actually do it multiple times a week... it's magic. Vinegar, baking soda for the toilet.

@bakingdoodle: Oh wow, we already have vinegar + dawn mixed up because it kills the little weeds that grow on our patio. Never knew it could work on tubs too!

Vinegar. White distilled vinegar. Mix it with water and some lemon juice and it smells less, well, vinegary. But it's as nontoxic a cleaner as you can get.

Sometimes I'll take a half of a lemon and use it to scrub baking soda into my kitchen sink, which I assume would also work in a bathtub or bathroom sink.
I like microfiber cleaning cloths, with a little elbow grease, they clean nicely.

@snowjewelz:
I started with this recipe
http://www.familysavvy.com/savvy-cleaning-tip-dawn-vinegar-for-sparkling-shower-doors/
But decided that I don't need as much dawn. I don't even heat up the vinegar but I am sure it would dissolve better. I put about 1/3 dawn : 1 ratio vinegar. LOVE it. My sister converted her cleaning lady to it....

@bakingdoodle: Do you have to scrub it with a sponge? Or just coat and wash off?
cherry / 184 posts
@snowjewelz: I spray the mixture. Wait 5 min (cleaning the countertop and etc...) and then use a facecloth. I wouldn't use a sponge: I don't think it has enough 'ridges'. You don't have to scrub hard. Then rinse.

Vinegar for most cleaning, and we also use Seventh Generation toilet bowl cleaner and sometimes their tub & tile spray cleaner.

I thought the experiments this woman did with commercial and alternative cleaners was really eye opening - http://www.stopthestomachflu.com/Home/which-cleaning-products-kill-germs-the-best

I love mr clean magic erasers (I'm pretty sure they are non-toxic) especially for tubs and showers...gets soap scum off anything and really love it for shower doors!

@ShottingStar: eye opening website. She did what I would have like to test things with petri and all. I'll have to buy some hydrogen peroxide but I still like my dawn+vinegar for soap scum. I like magic erasers but it's more elbow grease for the tub... and i don't find them as green. (i buy the generic from ebay but they are not as good as the mr.clean ones)
@anonysquire: I bought one Norwex enviro cloth. I liked it until I had to wash it. supposedly sanitize in hot boiling water? I couldn't remember the instructions... so I keep washing it in the washer... and drying it. i probably destroy it?
I bought some ecloths also.

I like Bon Ami for scrubbing. I use it for the tub, sinks, and toilets.
